    Infinite dragonflight plan

We know that the infinite dragonflight serves the old gods (according to the dungeon journal entry of Murozond) and the last time we heard about them was when they helped Kairoz and Wrathion to make Wod happen and then everyone forgot about them. So, guess what? they succesfully released an old god: Wod happened and allowed alternate Guldan to travel to our reality and open a path for the legion, then at the end of the battle against the legion, Sargeras impales Azeroth with the dagger, this causes Azeroth to start dying so Magni gives us the Heart of Azeroth and later Azshara uses it to release N´zoth and so, the infinite dragonflight has fulfilled their goal.

The Infinite Dragonflight are only as compelling and interesting as their writers. The last time we got a decent story in Warcraft that couldn't be universally scrutinized was Wrath of the Lich King.

Says a hood wearing Nozdormu before revealing that the hood isn't attached to his robes by shifting it to cover his face and his name changes to Murozond.
"Oh, you think time is your ally. But you merely adopted the future; I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't see the possibilities until I was already an Infinite, by then it was nothing to me but MADDENING! Time betrays you Champion, because it already belongs to our master!

Entire zones: You cannot defeat the Lich King in a frontal assault.
    Tirion: *assaults ICC's front door

He's Arthas, wait no Arthas is gone, no wait he's still there, false alarm he's not, wait no...

"There must always be a Lich King..."

Yeah. The main story was piss poorly handled.

That's like breaking The Lord of the Rings down to its barest components.

"One does not wander into Mordor. The very air you breathe will poison your lungs, it is scorched Earth. Not with a 1,000 men could you do this."

"Ok, 7 people can do it."

"Very well, you go. We're going back to our elvish and dwarvish lodgings. But when you need us, 1,000 will come back and distract Mordor's troops so you can sneak in and throw the ring into the volcano."

    "kthnx!"

Wrath was much more nuanced than how you described it. There was Verimathras' treachery, Tirion, Bolvar, and Darion, Muradin, Jaina and Sylvanas, all of whom's stories intertwined directly to Arthas. It's far from being impeccable story-telling but it's leagues above what we got in Cataclysm, Warlords and Legion, and now BfA.

Yeah, WotLK had a neat story, thanks mainly for Warcraft 3's stuff.

And even better than WotLK's story was MoP.

Yep, Mists had pretty good story-telling too. Decent coherent narrative that didn't try to become too ambitious or convoluted.

Except half of it got retconned later because it didn't make sense in connection to the rest of lore.

What exactly in Mists do you think was retconned?

    What?

Nothing got retconned from MoP. What are you talking about?

Likely "Something something minority of orcs siding with garrosh."

When in reality majority of what people call retcons are not retcons and warcraft isn't anywhere near as much retconned as people cry.
