I don't care about Wow 11.0, if it's not solo-MMO. No half-measures - just perfect xpack.
Content for the sake of content doesnt mean its good. What we have gotten in Legion & much more in BfA isnt really that good of content anyway. Its just more grind ontop of grinds that already was in the game.
whats even worse, is that gear suddenly start meaning less and less. Go check out raids now and what spells are doing top dps. Alot of it comes from these essences. So not only do people gotta do the natural grind for gear, rep, etc, they gotta farm temporarly power that you can only use for a limited time. In 6-8 months time your hard earned essences are long gone and your class is taken back to "something".
The most difficult thing to do is accept that there is nothing wrong with things you don't like and accept that people can like things you don't.
I've played and stopped playing a lot of games over the years. I don't think I've ever posted on a fan forum after I've stopped playing, and I definitely haven't a year later. Are you just a very chatty person or does WoW still have some hold on you even though it has been a long time since you've played?
i think u mean wtf happened after wotlk
After 8.1.5 they actually made BfA good.
Nazjatar and Mechagon are some of the best outdoor content ever released.
Essence system was the much needed fix to azerite.
Corruption system is an unbalanced mess, but it's INCREDIBLY fun. The corruptions are just so out of whack my heroic guild that never gets past the 1st mythic boss is now 4/12.
Not too mention all the other systems that were improved in 8.2 and 8.3, like Island Expeditions which are finally fun and rewarding.

You were able to do this in the past, though. A week-couple weeks tops of mythic and m+ spam and you were geared enough to contribute, not be carried, if you were skilled at the game. There is literally nothing positive about having systems that give significant power creep based on the number of consecutive days you log in as opposed to giving the player an option to instead invest that time spent grinding in longer sessions over a shorter period of time.
If you're content with the essence system, corruptions (lol @ the new vendor rotation), and even with the nerf, doing the dailies required to get your cloak to 15, you either don't enjoy being able to be competitive on alts, or have been subbed for the majority of the expansions life cycle and enjoy the advantages of it.
At no point WoW couls you quit mid expansion for 1 year, come back and be as good as you were when you quit without having to grind a bit.
Sure it's a lot more visible now with the super power growth from patch to patch.
Its not really about raiders or non raiders. If someone were to return to the game now, they would have to spend atleast 1 month to be somewhat relevant. Its just filled with so much stuff you gotta grind out, its way out of control. You cant really compete at any level in m+, raids or pvp(arena) without spending alot of time grinding for stuff that got nothing to do with gear.

Sure, theres always been grinds you needed to do if you quit for 1 year. Those grinds was never so bad as it is now though. In most previous xpacs you grinded out gear in dungeons, bgs/arena or older raids. Now its a long ass grind chain, where alot of it comes from content that dont really matter anymore cause Blizzard likes to make only last raid/zone of a xpac to be relevant.
If someone logged on today after being gone for 1 year, they would probably be somewhat relevant sometime in July. And thats not a stretch, since alot of this is based on RNG on RNG ontop of RNG with a bit of nice RNG on the side. Atleast in previous xpacs one could grind out badges and get the item(s) you wanted, now you gotta pray to the RNG god(s) that they give you the right loot.
Yes but isn't that a good thing?
I would find it horrible if i return to an MMO (or basically any online game) after years and all my stuff would still be the best and there is nothing left for me to do. I would quit again if that would be the case.
Yes it may suck if, as the OP, you just want to pvp and do nothing else in the game at all. But i think that is a very special minority, i guess most players enjoy many aspects of the game.
And whats wrong with having to spend some time to get better gear, isn't that one of the main motivations in WoW?
Yes, grinding out for gear is one thing. In previous xpacs you could spam HC dungeons, craft some piece of gear and enter some of the easier raid settings. Especially grinding out HC dungeons for certain drops and/or badges was effective and made so that people could in a reasonable time get OK gear. Remember, we are not talking about cutting edge BiS gear here, but something that gets your character relevant.
Right now its grinding gear(with lots of RNG factors) plus endless grinds for essences and corruption. Right now your gear actually means less, its all about getting the essences in high enough level.
Yeah sure its like its always been, that returning players gotta grind a bit. RIght now though its just to much.
