Skipping the maw intro seems like one of those QoL things that come in a .1 or .2 patch.
Skipping the maw intro seems like one of those QoL things that come in a .1 or .2 patch.
When the servers were a broken mess right at launch, I decided to complete the intro on as many toons as possible. Otherwise, when i think "hey, i might level my mage now" I would instantly think "nah, fuck it, ill have to do that bloody intro again".
If im honest, other than the server issues making the game feel horrible to play in certain zones, my only real complaint in these very early days is the level of "ok now click this, now click that, now talk to this person, now click that, now follow this person, now click this, now follow this person again, now click this thing, now go flying for a bit in a scripted scenario, while spamming one key, ok now run over here, ok NOW you can kill 5 people".
I realise there are some who love that stuff, but i personally prefer to actual play my character in a combat situation, so 3 different "go kill 10 of these and 5 of these" quests.
The answer is somewhere in the middle. There are positives. You don't have to go back to the maw at all until 60, there are no long tedious RP portions. Time wise its about the same as playing through the story, maybe slightly faster due to no RP. The negative is that the "bonus objective" areas are complete mindless grindfests and the % requirements are way too high. A lot of the side quests are also very boring.
I did 50-60 in about 6hrs 30 with theads of fate.
And i was by no means trying to go supers fast. Was levelling professions etc at the same time.
Ended up getting some anima and other useful items so i wasn't "behind" as it were at 60. (Not that you can be in a new expansion, but you get the idea).
All i did was, maw opener, oribos. Chose covenant.
Went to all 4 zones doing the fill the bar quests. And i was 60. Pretty happy, i can level my alts organically doing WQs or doing or whatever i fancy doing on the day. If i feel lke doing story again, i can.
So yeah, 2nd 60 done i first week. Pretty happy with that. Few friends did dungeons with a group of 5 and did it in around 6 hours so yeah. 10lvls in 6 hours yay?
Honestly wish I didn't do this with my second character AT ALL. Loving the expansion so far and loved the initial campaign so this isn't a hate-inspired post. It just feels so blah running around and doing side quests and WQs the entire time. Would definitely rather go through the campaign again but I can see the appeal behind it if you want to strictly dungeon/pvp grind your way to 60
Thanks blizzard for gives us this choice because leveling in Shadowlands is so boring.
So I can earn Anima from world quests, but my alt seems to be stuck at Renown level 1 and there appears to be no way of depositing Anima into the sanctum reservoir. Anybody else?you can get a head start on earning your Covenant’s Renown by depositing Anima you collect into their reservoir.
This is so cool. Although I instantly ran into level 60 monsters everywhere in Bastion at level 50 when I wanted to explore and look for rares. Guess it's not that open world after all.
It feels weird to see "the quests will be marked as complete" but from what I understand the quest reward transmogs won't be auto-learned.

That's... not even remotely what he said. He was just replying to the post about how since it's not a scenario and is actually a leveling zone it's not likely to be skipped. He was just pointing out there was a precedent for skipping quest-zone intros.
And the Tanaan skip was added about three months after release, so it's not like it was an end of expansion thing.
Leveling an alt with Threads of Fate, and i like it.
You can go slowly by just doing world quests for anima (getting vast amounts of anima once you reach 60) or a few dungeons, or you can just do some secondary story lines, and the hefty XP bonus after filling a zone bar is super nice.
My only issue (and not strictly about Threads of Fate) is how long some bonus objective progression bars take, and how little XP it awards on conclusion.
All the rest? Great.
Just wish we could skip the Maw intro. 30minutes with too much running around and RP, and completely halting moments (clicking the helm shards, Jaina explaining the maw, etc).
WoW players are all trash? M+ leavers? Pug raid fails? You don't have stuff to do? WoW has become a solo player game for you? People don't talk anymore? Everyone's toxic? I have a simple solution, just for you!

I must be crazy, I actually enjoy the shadowlands intro. It's a million times better than WoD. I liked the DK and DH intro quests at the time but they were too long. I find this intro quest line to be just the right length. I could use with Jaina moving faster in those escort quests but it's really straightforward otherwise.
I've done it 5 times already and I'm looking forward to more times this weekend
