Early sample, thoughts?
Also:
-Only 2 guilds have 7 bosses down on heroic
-Normal mode is thought to be slightly over-tuned as a general consensus

Thoughts: Glad I mained a shadow priest, hope they don't get nerfed,
Of course I retire the DK this xpac for a Pally...
3% nerf for UH, 2% buff for Assa, 17% buff for Havoc, call it a day - Blizzard style.
Also, 2 weeks later, nerf a bunch of random Covenants, Conduits and Legendaries because you've explicitly told players you wouldn't do so.... again.
Lol, poor DKs. Getting ready to get bludgeoned in the nuts with a spiky nerf bat!
Thoughts? Sure...
1) I think second week data will be more informative as more people will know the fights - positioning, when to use CDs etc. Also, we'll just have more data
2) That said, the disparity from top to bottom is way too wide and no pure DPS class/spec combos should be in the lower 50%. To me, this is failure of their internal testing. If the gap from top to bottom was, say, 10% that would be fine. 25%+? Come on Blizzard.
3) Definitely moving the rogue to Sub.
I have mained a warlock for 16 years. I did shelve her for a about almost a year in BFA to play and try out rogue. So returned back to warlock in Shadowlands. Tried out affliction in raid last night and I felt my DPS was definitely underwhelming. As of yet (12-9-20) I don't have a legendary made. Not sure on what to make. I keep hearing different opinions. But maybe just me but I felt affliction was a little low. Again could be just me of course.
Be careful who you chat it up with here on these forums. If you are NOT for WoW and about WoW, people will report whatever you say and get you banned
(a) too many people not purchasing legendaries at this point which will skew the results
(b) DKs and other melees should drop a bit in mythic where there are more mechanics that they have to worry about
otherwise this is almost exactly as expected. It's a little disappointing that we knew this was going to be the balance during beta and still did nothing to improve the lower specs. It really cant be that hard to have the lower 1/2 about equal with this type of upper skew. Poor warriors/havoc/ww, give these guys a flat 10-15 buff and we are gg
Way too large a disparity from top to bottom, and anyone could see this coming out of beta. I wish they were a bit more aggressive in their pre-patch tuning because we already knew from beta some specs are going to be quite literally 20-30% stronger than others and this should have been made at least a bit tighter (15-20%) before raid went live.
Blizzard hasn't done wide swing tuning since Highmaul in WoD, and at best I think the bottom guys get 5-10%, and the top guys get -5%. Unfortunately, some of these bottom specs need more like 15-20%.
Oh, Im not faulting you for the post - just that I think this might change a bit after next lockout.
Well that will be a first :P2 - I agree with this thought on pures, however.. people are going to jump on you for saying it.
To be clear, I'm not saying we should revisit the hybrid tax but that pure specs should all be around the middle of the pack or better overall. There may be specific fights where that's not true but overall, it's the only thing they can do. Seeing a rogue spec below Ret is... no. That's just crap tuning on Blizzard's part.
If the disparity were 5-10%, I'd not even care about that. Someone is always at the bottom of lists like this and if I was playing Assassination rogue and it was, say, 7% under the top DPS... eh. But it's around 25% top to bottom which is just pathetic given that Blizzard can (or should be able to) run sims against the actual Nathria boss encounters for all of the classes.
More to the point, I could make the argument that a 7% drop in one player's DPS from the very best spec isn't going to matter on most encounters. But a 25% drop? And what do you do if, like mages, 2 of the 3 specs are below the median? Yeah, hard core raids will all just respec but people shouldn't feel the need to respect because the devs fucked up their tuning so badly.

I predict a mass exodus from the Demon Hunter class.
The unholy thing could be seen on the horizon for the past 2 weeks. I doubt many UDKs are in denial right now that a nerf is imminent.
You are welcome, Metzen. I hope you won't fuck up my underground expansion idea.
It was basically ignored for all of beta. One of it's perks (Improved poisons rank 3) still doesn't work to this day and it was implemented back in April. Relied on borrowed power in BFA, which is all gone (especially for aoe). Since the spec got none of this as a perk or received any significant change to make up for it like sub and outlaw, it has less power overall in SL compared to BFA. Finally, abilities in general are just plan undertuned. It almost feels as if assassin was supposed to get some perks while leveling 50-60 that would increase mutilate, envenom, and rupture damage. But they didn't so the spec is just very weak overall.
