My original post can be found on the blizzard forum here: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/1503482281#1
(shamelessly copied)
So, i was doing my daily heroic on my prot warrior, when a epic BoE caster neck drops. Me, my hunter friend and a DK ofc presses greed (well, the DK pressed DE for some reason), while our pala healer and warlock presses need. The pala wins, and leaves the dungeon right after. Oh, i bet he wont equip it! Like many other wow players wouldnt..
So here is my suggestion (i could not find the suggestion forum!!):
When a BoE drops, you get the standard 3 options: Need, Greed or Disenchant. When you press Need, it is because you actually need the item, and want to equip it. In that case, im sure you dont mind it being BoP, since youre gonna equip it anyways. If you press greed, you want to sell it, then BoE is just fine. Wont comment on DE...
Thoughts, ideas, problems with this? Im sure others have been in the same situation as me...
EDIT: Seems a lot of people dont know how it works... being a WARRIOR i cant need on an item with INT on it! So no, not every1 in the group can need!
EDIT again: Still seems like people dont know that if the items doesnt have the right stats for you, you cant press need! Posting anything about this, is not relevant to the topic.
EDIT: New option, suggested by replies (so i wont take credit for this, although i think its a really good idea). Instead of above mentioned solution, when a BoE item drops, there is only 2 options, and this is for everyone (granted you have an enchanter in the group): Greed and DE. Why? because there shouldnt be a difference in whos eligible to win an item, when a lot of players is anyways going to sell on the AH (this is based off own experience, so you may say what you want, but ive seen this happen a lot. Giving the item to an alt is just as bad, since he wasnt there, and just because you play a class that can use the same item as your alt, shouldnt give you priority over others. I bet almost everyone have an alt that can use any BoE item that can drop anywhere (BoE 85 epics at least).
