This is incredible. I can't imagine the time and effort that went into making those models in your free time. I agree, 110%. That's how she should have looked.

The gold plating makes sense once she been corrupted and turned into a naga, imo. The white dress makes perfect sense for her highborn form.
I will give you this. Given some time and another viewing the second one isn't so outrageous. Well, no, it's still outrageous, but less enraging, perhaps, to the viewer. I'm still not convinced it fits the era or the character but at least after some time the initial shock and awe fades a little.
I believe that's fanart... If you look at http://www.wowpedia.org/File:Azshara_portal.jpg?c=1 you'll get what I mean. And why base the model on fanart rather than canon lore?
The first one is correct, the second does not feel right.
Should've looked like? I think it's Blizzard's own art designers who decide how she should look like.
Your first edit looks ok as it doesn't change much, but I'd still have the original Blizzard design.
Your second on the other hand...why would Queen Azshara wear something like that? She should look elegant, like a queen is supposed to. Not like a RPG slut battlemaiden. She is/was like a godess to her people. There's no reason she'd wear anything more than a beautiful dress.
No, the book listed as her as elegant with evil feel. That second one does not said elegant.
You need to study the style of clothes that the Highborne and the Night Elves wears.
Look at what Tyrande Whisperwind is wearing both in the past and right now.
Also take a look at Queen Azshara's Dressing Gown then improve it by adding more skins.
If you were study the High Elves and the Blood Elves, then you just fail the test.
It's nicely done, even though I don't like the highborne suit. I think Azshara looks fine how she'll be in 4.3.

I like it. If anything, it speaks volumes about how the night elves thought themselves kings and queens of the universe. The Highborne were quite high on themselves, after all.
If there is any society where opulence would be displayed on and around its nobility, it would be the Highborne. A runner up would be the High Elves or Blood Elves.

Some have said that the Nightelves didn't wear "fancy" clothes and their clothes were much more plain than what is shown... if we look to WotA and maybe those Highborne spirits in the Stonetalon Mountains, selling clothes then I must say I disagree. In WotA it is mentioned several times that Malfurion and Tyrande (being a priestess/novice priestess) were exeptions with wearing practical and unornamental clothes, the rest of the Elves tried to copy the Highborne-style, which was colours, little cloth and only the most extravagant und most impractical cuts.
And Azshara used her body as much as her charms to get everybody to her service. She sure might have done so in a graceful and elegant way, but that doesn't change the point that she surely showed some degree of skin.
I love that fanart of her sitting in front of the portal, btw. I don't care if she has whatever eyes or hair, this is how I always imagined her, because I think it shows her the way she is meant to be looking (expression of her face, pose, graceful, but somehow deadly)
Y U NO WORK AT BLIZZARD!?...why???
Sorry if I insulted you in any way to make you reply like that.
I do know who she is as I have read the books. She is described as very beautiful and seductive. And she sure is arrogant aswell. But at no point did I ever think of her to be dressed like a slut. Which your "Golden Azshara" model makes her look like. I'm sorry but that's just how I see it. Seductive does not mean looking like a RPG-slut with just enough armor to not make it pornographic material. As someone mentioned earlier you have the potential of being more seductive by showing just enough skin compared to someone showing alot of it.
Don't get me wrong, I really admire your work. And I'm eager to see more of it. I just don't like this specific case. If I was as a jerk I do apologize.
No lol, you were not a jerk
You have the right to share your honest opinion. Much appreciated.
I have read some really useful stuff and since I am making multiple outfits, I have a great idea to improve on her appearance. Making her more 'Night Elven' but still a Queen. Hopefully more people will like this one. Although I still hold my stand with this golden outfit. I agree that it does not represent the Night Elven theme, but then again I think Azshara and the highbornes developed their own clothing style. It is definitely different from regular night elves as the item 'Azsharas Gawn' states the highbornes had an awful taste And I like to think gold as superior to silver and also what someone in this topic said before that Azshara and her highbornes
didnt want to be related to the Elune (and her more silver theme).
For those who havent seen: My previous Azshara without the 'crazy hat' and still Blood Elven base model, on a couch (Imagining her waiting for Sargeras)

Blizzard listened!!!
I still prefer Vaane'ls versions, both for face, outfits and especially hair, but hey, this is a step in the right direction. But aren't the new markings a bit off for Azshara? And now she's blue, even farther from a "rich, deep purple", and the gold in her jewels is duller. But still - better, Blizz. Now hire Vaanel, and work together with him, and together, you'll reach WoW design perfection.
Edit: typo.

Already posted this image in another thread, but since this one fits too---
Here is a quick Photoshop I did of Azshara which I think fits her best: simple and elegant.
Nice nipple rings.
Also the whole set is nice.
