First thing first, stop drinking regular coke and get yourself some diet coke, you'll save yourself alot of calories. Second I would recomend buying a food scale and start counting your calories if your trulely serious about body composition, and looking great with a shirt off.

Weight gain/loss comes down to calories in vs. calories out, the more you take in over a certain number will lead to fat gain is you are not properly lifting. you can be at 5% body fat eating McDonald's or fat as fuck from eating apples, it's a fairly simple concept. Keep things simple.

Lift Hard, Eat Right, Sleep well.

if you do this you will eventually see the results you want, its a marathon run to get there not a sprint. Also if you plan on losing weight and staying that way it is a total lifestyle change, something you must commit to.

For other forum posters, Sugar does not make you fat, sure it is unhealthy but you can maintain a fairly balanced lifestyle comsuming alot of it.

Sugar provides no nutritional value and alot of health disadvantages.

The only thing i can agree with you on is that its calories in vs calories out, Everything can be "Okay" aslong as its in moderation.

Diet coke is no better then regular coke. Don't drink sodas at all.

As far as calories are concerned, yeah, it is better. And if he's really struggling with addiction to soda, then it might be an easier transition.

Next to the trip to my work I think I cycle about 1,5 hours a day. I have no clue how much calories I'm burning and how long it will take to get rid of 10 kilo's ( 22 lbs )

Any tips or tricks? I would like to start losing some weight so I can be in shape for when I go back to college

EDIT: Maybe someone can post a litle "diet" when it comes to eating?
I'm no expert, but I can tell you what worked for me (I was at 96kg about an year ago and now I'm at 78). When I started I wasn't going for "ripped" or whatever - I just wanted to lose some weight. Let's call it a casual approach.

-First stop drinking soda. I was drinking about the same as you and I noticed the biggest improvement after I stopped. This is where I lost the most weight in a relatively short period of time.

-Second, be careful with what you're eating. I haven't kept a very strict diet, instead I followed some general guidelines. Stopped eating junk food, fast food and I try avoiding those "bad" fats. There's plenty of websites where you can get an idea of what to eat/what to avoid. As far as meals, I currently eat 3 times per day with some fruit twice between meals. I also stopped drinking alcohol (even though for different reasons, but it helps)

-As far as exercise goes, I went to a gym 3 months ago, but had to stop after just 2 months due some rl issues - hope to pick that back up soon . Again, you can look up some programs and see what suits you. I was going 3 times a week (Mon, Wed, Fri) and biking on the weekends for about 2 hours at the time. If you're weighing yourself regularly during this time, don't get freaked out if you don't notice a weight loss as big as you've wanted. Going to the gym, you'll start gaining muscle and even though the weight doesn't go down much, you can still tell the difference by looking in the mirror.

You can find a lot of useful tips all over the internet. Just look them up, stay committed and you'll get where you want. Good luck!
