    Do you miss memory cards?

I remember back in the day when I had my ps2. I had several memory cards. Sure, their memory was limited but they were portable and usable on any system anywhere. Most importantly, I could take my save data from any game and use it on a new system or a friends. I was reminded of these after the other day, finding out that I cannot so much as copy my Dragon Ball Xenoverse save data unless I upload it online first and then import it from there to its new destination. It made me wish we had memory cards again instead of all the save data being on the system and at times, requiring a paid subscription in order to transfer them.

Do you ever find yourself missing memory cards?

NO. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD NO.

Seriously, hell no. I wish more games would allow you to actually save on the system though, like 3DS games.

They've been replaced with account data, where we can now just login on a different system from anywhere and our progress will be loaded. Steam also now backs up your save files to their servers. More games just need to provide this integration.

Do you miss carring your saves on floppy disks too?

I would only agree if I could transfer them easier.

Not even a tiny bit. I was constantly losing mine because I'm a moron.

having the data stored on a hard drive is so much easier .

nothing like having an entire memory card corrupt due to a game glitch or just faulty hardware and losing HOURS of progress only to realize you did not copy over to another card in 3 months

no I don't miss memory cards that and if you are messy you can lose them outright.

Honestly, that seems less likely to happen if they were around now a days.

Some aren't that bad. I thought like with the PS3 even you could put save data onto a flash drive?

Nintendo I know sticks to SD cards usually.

But screw Sony and their Vita memory cards.

Nah. Modern options are much cheaper and/or robust.

There's a little bit of nostalgia involved, but I can't say I miss them in the slightest.

Both cartridges and memory cards can go to hell. We didn't like them back in the day, we just were forced to use them.

Never really dealt much with memory cards, the only system I played regularly that used them was our GCN every other system either had small amounts of internal memory on the console or memory on the cartridges themselves for the saves. What I don't miss though is relying on batteries to keep my saves safe...

Miss them? are you kidding me? memory cards were the worst thing. I remember buying a GC that came with windwaker and I was so excited to finally play another zelda game, only to find out the thing didn't include a fucking memory card!

I miss dial up internet more than I miss memory cards.

I miss instruction booklets. They smell nice.

And actual books don't run on batteries, that'ss the one thing I'll take out my cane and complain against.

Most games you can. However, there are some games where you absolutely must have a psn+ subscription and transfer your save data to the cloud if you want to use it on another account on the system. That is the main reason why I want something like memory cards back. I shouldn't have to pay just to use my save data on another account on my own system.

Hm, may I ask what games do that, or an example or two? Honestly curious, I don't recall Guacamelee doing that to me, but I might of had PSN+ at the time.

I thought if anything you can plug the Vita right in, or transfer save data over a local connection.
