Here's the scenario: It's 50-100 years in the future, artificial intelligence, AI is common place, so are robots. Just about every job except for extremely human oriented jobs like nursing and childcare are automated.
You have a 100% free time on you hands. You can play videogames all day long, take drugs, whatever, nobody cares. You don't need to show up for work in the morning because there is no work.
So retro communities startup. You can pretty much pick your year, 1950's, 1990's, 2000's, etc. When you live in these communities it's just like you were living in that time period, no AIs, primitive video games, etc. Everyone has a job, a real life human mechanic works on your manually driven car, a real life human plumber fixes your sink. A human does your taxes.
Of course you can always go on vacation to the real world outside of the community.
In the US the Amish live like it was 1880, horses, lots of manual labor. They've turned their back on the advance of technology, would you?
