    Is WOW dead yet?

    Since I started in late vanilla (roughly 2 months before tbc. lol im south park gen player) ive heard of wows decline. Is it dead yet? Its been dying for years and so many assassins (wow killers) have tried to take its life.

    so

    is WOW dead yet? its been like 6 years.

    Just wait 4 more months for rift... and 6 for SWTOR and 8 for FF nr. ?? and... well its coming for wow n/w the game won't last long !

    It's about as dead as the zombie apocalypse.
    (Meaning that there's millions of mindless retards and a small group who know wtf they're doing.)

    Short answer: No. There are still millions of active players and subscriptions.

    I have seen some empirical evidence of weekly activity decline after the X-pac, but it's not enough data to offer conclusive support of an actual trend yet.

    My personal experience has been that while some areas of Cata are lacking, it's overall a great release and the new challenges are fun. Raiding has been going well so far and people in my guild are stoked to be gearing up and seeing content.

    Additionally, as content patches are released I expect that there will be some exciting new things added.

    Seeing as the subscription numbers went up to 11(12?) million during Wrath, I wouldn't really say it's been dying for years.

    WoW is most certainly not dead yet, but I can definitely see a decline in number of the people who joined during Wrath and expected an incredibly easy game all the way through.

    You see, for a game such as WoW to die you need people to stop playing the game and for blizzard to stop releasing more expansions. Neither have happened, instead more people are joining up to play and more expansions are being releaesd.

    So how has WoW being dying since vanilla ?

    Yeah the 12 million subscribers should tell you something.

    But I don't see WoW cracking 13-15mil. I think 12mil was the cap.
