Discipline priests are are actually at this point going for "balance" between Shadow and Light theme, yes. It is not completely flesht out yet tho, as now its more like "mostly light but with bit of shadow" where holy priests are all about the light and spriests... all about the shadow. As I was saying before: In old lore light was the ultimate "good" and shadow was ultimate "evil" but it has changed up quite drastically since then. Even name of "discipline" spec changed its meaning in the process, almost unnoticably.
It actually strengthens my... concerns. ;]
Ps: Yes, its quite a nitpicky thread indeed, I am not even trying to deny it anyhow. But If you just don't care why bother replying then? Its open discussion where I'd prefer to read something AGAINST my concerns especially if they are valid and reasonable than to read posts saying that someone "just doesn't care and shouldn't I too.

Holy is the spell school used by beings of Light. Similarly, Shadow is the spell school that beings of Shadow use. It's there in the map, and it makes complete sense.
If you're arguing for us to use Light as a spell school instead of Holy, then we'll need to change Arcane damage to Order, Fel to Disorder, and Nature to Life damage. What would be the reasoning behind changing things that are completely logical and balanced as they are now?
Arcane mages would become Order mages, Holy Paladins would become Light Paladins. Imo, sounds rather stupid.
I honestly however wouldn't be terribly surprised if 'shadow' damage was changed to 'void' damage in an upcoming patch to fit the theme more though. But that's besides the point.

Holy priests are beings of light that utilize Holy. Shadowpriests are beings of Shadow that utilize Shadow.
a Being of Shadow using Shadow(Void)
a Being of Light using Holy
fits perfectly within logic and reason.
Shadow > Shadow(Void)
Order > Arcane
Life > Nature
Light > Holy
Disorder > Fel
Death > Necromantic
just as there must be 2 "aggression" specs (somewhere...) as we have 2 protection specs... ;]
Riiiight... almost as if it makes sense, I could give you some point if shadow spec was called void spec then, but otherwise? Nope.
If you'd read my first post You'd see I was referring to that... and ultimately its what sparked the idea for me. Back in the days light was associated and represented with everything that's good, rightful and overall well... holy(?). Nowadays lore progression indicates clearly that neither light is good nor shadow is bad as they are just primal forces. Not sure if I like it personally, but it is what it is.
Because WoW isn't real? Are you serious here?
The Light is an entity. A force. Holy is its alignment, its element, its attunement.
The Void is an entity. A force. Shadow is its alignment etc.
Unholy technically falls under a different school in WoW. Therefore you're wrong because you don't understand the universe and are trying to apply some kind of grammatical logic to a magical universe... jesus dood.
Maybe Frost Mages shouldn't be called Frost because they use a Water Elemental, not an ice one. That's basically the same logic and it sounds derpy af. Also, Frost isn't a traditional school of magic in other RPG lore, Ice is. Friggin WoW messing with my stuff...
