I'm sure she's justifying this in her head by thinking "if I stroke his ego, he'll actually do things to save people's lives"...

But that's not how malignant narcissists operate. She's only corrupting herself by trying to appease him.

First comment really sums it up. These people never learn. As soon as she steps out of line she will be gone as well.

Partially, possibly. His reluctance to take action does seem in part driven by the worst hit states being very Democratic states.

But it seems less that, and more that he just doesn't want to do anything.

He won't enact the DPA, reportedly because conservative advisers around him warned that showing that "big government" can be effective and work would be devastating to their ideological foundation.

He won't do anything about the ongoing trade war with China and Europe.

He doesn't want to have the federal government fulfill its traditional role during times like this - to manage logistics nationally, finding where they can get needed goods and how to get those goods where they're needed. The government is built to do shit like this, and it's a role the states can't fill as they do not have the resources.

Basically, he wants to have a press conference making it look like his administration is doing a lot, but not actually doing a lot.

DHS has 1.5 million "expired" masks, CDC still says they're functional and should be used while we have a shortage. They're just sitting around, and have been for a while.

They may give them to TSA employees, which isn't bad, but apparently aren't even considering distributing to health care professionals/hospitals. Or even FEMA.

The costs of chaotic and anti-intellectual leadership
    • Last week: Trump said he invoked the DPA, minutes later he said he didn't invoke it
    • Two days ago: Trump said he we didn't need the DPA
    • Yesterday: He said we may have too many ventilators
    • Today: OMG OPEN A PLANT. MAKE VENTILATORS NOW

Haha it's not like he went on Hannity last night and said he didn't want to help certain governors because they weren't nice enough to hi-

    Oh. Oh he did.

I doubt she is in the cult. I suspect she rationalizes this by understanding that the only way Trump will listen to her advise is if she goes on TV and praises him. She is right, and if she saves any lives in doing this, more power to her.

    He's a transactional man.

When it's not a monetary transaction he cares about, it's an emotional transaction he cares about.

One might call him a "snowflake" who relies too much on "feels over reals".

Michigan has a Dem governor and she was critical of Trump. Sorry Michigan

On the other hand, Inslee was really nice to Pence during his "visit".

Note: Being nice to Pence won't save you. Sorry Mother

Donald Trump. Blowing off a meeting with Xi Jinping to discuss the pandemic, Trump would rather call in to Hannity and spend time bragging about how awesome he is.

Which does nothing for the country.

Donald. Trump. Is. A. National. Security. Risk. And will be directly responsible for the preventable deaths of thousands.

No, I'm confused by AOC crying loudly about the bill that just passed unanimously in the Senate.

She's looking to stay in the spotlight, Thekri, welcome to politics.

Except all that she has done is give Trump and his base the sound bite. Now we get to hear how dr. fauci was a deep state plant and he was jsut some liberal hack etc.etc.. and she is the real person who knows whats up! Until she steps out of line and the next person up kisses his ass thinking they will do some good. Hint, it never does.

So the answer is no, you don't have any understanding of how any of this works. Got it.

Go make a Democrat shitshow thread, then. Because nobody really cares about a trivial nothing like this, especially since she's right.

Wanna talk about how Trump will be responsible for the deaths of thousands? How he's abdicating his job as leader and leaving states and federal agencies to fend for themselves? How he's contradicting health experts and himself constantly? How his "suggested" treatment has already led to one person killing themselves? How he's more interested in jacking himself off over how great he is than actually trying to handle the situation?

I mean, we have a lot to talk about here. I get it, it's probably awkward and uncomfortable to "defend" right now and sniping at AOC being reasonably outraged over some of the bullshit Republicans put into the stimulus bill is easy. But if you wanna snipe at AOC or other Democrats over small stuff while the nation is facing a health crisis without leadership then seriously, go create a megathread for it.

The more you listen to her the more you realize she's got nothin'. Nothing but gesticulations and a raised voice about "working families", a staple in any of her speeches.

We've talked about this before. The $9.5 billion goes to farmers affected by the coronavirus in theory, but in all likelihood goes to farmers who says their sales went down. That, plus the $14 billion, is just the trade war on China taking more victims.

I'd have to create a brand new thread for everything I wanted to comment on. The thread would die. There's only enough people on this board to keep the Trump Shitshow thread alive, because the majority of people here are anti-Trump. Just look at the front page.

So I get it Edge, it's nice having a place, a "My Political Opponent Shitshow" thread to just complain about your political opponents all day. Don't have to hunt for an appropriate thread. Must be nice.

The real question is, why are you listening to a junior congressmen from New York so much? I don't think I have ever heard her talk, because she is politically irrelevant and I don't care.

The only influence she has comes from right wingers who can't get her out of their head for some reason. I think it is some sort of weird fetish or something. Anyway, she is a Congresswoman talking about a bill that is before Congress. That is about as cut and dried as it can be, it is her job. I might not agree with her positions, but that really isn't the point.

Republicans seem to be doing their damndest to kill off their voters. Alabama won't order "shelter in place".

    Why?

Per-capita, the outbreak is worse in Alabama than it is in California and trending more along the lines of the NY outbreak.

I don't want Americans to die, but if Republicans want to kill their voting base then there's nothing I can do about that. I guess we have to break a few eggs to save our 401K's. Sorry Gam Gam and Gramps, you may have fought abroad in more than one war for this nation but you'll need to risk your life in your golden years for your kids and grandkids.

It's simply how things are. This isn't a death panel. This isn't socialism even. This is red-blooded capitalism, baby.
It's because it's mostly affecting Burmingham which is pretty blue. it's not affecting the rural red areas right now, which is all Ivey cares about. She's not killing off her voting base, she's killing off the opposition, like a true republican authoritarian.

Just noticed it on Twitter and wanted to comment on it. Really brings into focus the whole circus, what with Massie and Bernie and everybody else doing their routine.

Like, if you've got nothing to say just sit down.

Jeeeeesus, John Kerry just went nuclear on Twitter over Massie opposing the bill. "Massholes" entered the conversation.

I have to wonder how unclean he feels being in agreement with Trump over something.

Oh the irony... the delicious irony.

When do you ever show up except to post favorable polls or express your outrage at whatever Fox news told you to be outraged about? You never come by to talk about any policy. You seem to like Politics as a team sport, you have no actual positions as far as I can tell.
