Let's not pretend that they won't try to ram this through ASAP, regardless of averages.

And even if they don't make it before the election, they'll have plenty of time during the in-between of November and January.

Well, it is a good thing they can't preside over a case that involves them.

Privately, I'm absolutely certain that the Repubs know Trump is toast in the GE.

Forcing a SC nomination through to maintain control of the SC for decades is absolutely going to be appealing to them on that basis, particularly with the demographic timebomb they have to know they're facing as the Boomers get closer to dying in droves.

Too many, and I have no doubt the GOP's schedule will suddenly be freed up to have special sessions.

I’m not pretending, just trying to add some perspective to people losing their shit.

There's a difference between losing your shit, and knowing exactly what's about to happen.

You don't have to be a clairvoyant to see what's coming

Dems need to start playing the republican game, sue on every issue they can to just tie this up for as long as possible.

The important number here is 1.

That is the number of days McConnell needs to ram something through the Senate.

He will try, and it will be rushed.

The only question mark is if whether or not there are enough Republican senators at risk in blue/purple states to abstain or vote against the confirmation in order to maintain their own place on the gravy train. Somehow I don't think we'll get that lucky.

You're assuming Republicans don't just start making up the rules like they didn't after Scalia kicked the bucket and suddenly decided "oh no we can't appoint a SC Justice on election years".

So what would happen if we get Bush V Gore 2 Electric Boogaloo over some controversial mail in ballots in several key states and then the court ends up tied?
