I think I still prefer it the quest flow of Stormblood where I felt like there was nothing to do the majority of the time. Most of them aren't bad, except that stupid azure haired boy lol.

I didn't prep at all, nor am I in a company/food buff and I seemed to be fine? I tried to juggle BLM and DRK at the same time, to where I was stuck doing old stuff to keep them caught up. I just gave up on my BLM at 82 for the time being and never had an issue staying at a relevant level since then. Unless you prepped for EW and had dozens of quests to cash in with all the associated things I'm not using, I don't think there's enough XP to level multiple jobs at the moment without doing side stuff. I remember watching my GF play and she juggled nearly 2 without doing much outside of the MSQ during ShB.
I do typically pick up every aether current and do all the side quests associated with them. I've certainly done some fates (no more than half a dozen at best), and that's only ones that are literally in the direct path of the MSQ.
Found my favourite easter egg so far If you fight the mobs in the carrotorium it plays FFIV's battle music instead of the endwalker battle music
Dont know if it does it anywhere else yet but that was a neat surprise.
After the 3rd time they could really skip the introduction how the quest works and have the npcs just auto follow you. It's a bit of WoW syndrome, once they have a new feature they really want to make use of it, like REALLY USE IT.
I'm currently sitting in the queue for the first trial and enjoying the music. I did everything and I'm lvl 86,5 for a trial that syncs me down to lvl 83. No clue how someone could have issues with XP, seeing how sidequests are like 1/3rd of MSQs and aren't that common either. I did do some roulettes daily so far though, to drag my DRK behind me which is at 83.5 with 2h of daily investment since launch(-lockout). I'm also a no-FC hobo, so no bonuses either.
Edit: Nope, I'm a collosal idiot.. I was in the wrong queue..
I also want that rainbow monster in the 4th zone

You are welcome, Metzen. I hope you won't fuck up my underground expansion idea.
EW is the best expansion by far. Incredible story.
Wow this expansions story is kinda shit isn't it? Well mostly the Garlemald part. For years we've been waiting to invade Garlemald and now it's like "Let's invade! but don't kill anyone.." With the rapid decissionmaking that is required in warfare they're gonna spend time thinking about how to incapacitate instead of killing.. seems legit.
Story here goes like: "Hey future friends!", "Fuck you, i kill you we proud garleans and we won't be subjugated, please feel pity for us even though we've been harassing your nations for ages" "No please don't hurt us, we friends and we will accept being captured (and potentially killed in some martyr move to prove it)".. Super lame and juvenile warfare. Reminds me of shitty trails of cold steel warfare.
Wish there was more player agency and i'd wipe the place clean of garlean soldiers

There is a spoiler thread where you should post spoilers.

EW is not as good as ShB, IMO, and I'm disappointed in the direction they went with certain characters and story elements. Had I not known otherwise, I would've said a completely different writer was responsible because EW doesn't feel like the spiritual successor to ShB at all.

Holy shit I've only just done the first trial and gadzooks its topped ShB only 3 levels in. All is forgiven for Titania!
i would advice anyone who does not know it by heart to look up the lyrics of the song "Answers" (the one that plays in the ARR cinematic and during coil13.)
there are A LOT of references to the lyrics of that song all throughout the MSQ, especially after zone 4.
The above mentioned remarks, ideas and notions are simply my thought on this topic. I do not wish to aggravate, denounce or criticize anyone who, for whatever reason, may disagree.
I think it's really well done so far. It reminds a lot more of the other single player Final Fantasies than previous expansions.
The new classes are great and the overall other class changes have also been great (in my limited experience)
My only complaint (other than logins) is I'm about 83 and like 12 hours in and it's been 90% cutscenes and reading.
Even though it's well done, they've gone too far with the amount and length of them. It feels noticeably more than previous expansions.
It would benefit from more gameplay woven in.
Otherwise, I'm enjoying it.
Stole the reply right out of my mouth hahahaha. Granted I have not finished yet but this is how I felt too. The pacing seems to be identical to shadowbringers and for me thats not a bad thing. The zones that take long do so to make you care about some characters or to properly introduce others. Sometimes its through conversation, sometimes through comic relief and sometimes through serious events.
We cannot have explosions and action 24/7 if you want to deliver a compelling narrative.
Everytime in this game that I ve felt like "come on get over iiiiiiit" in a cutscene where they build a character, I ve almost always eaten my words later as I realize that this slow building up was the reason I started caring about this character.
That's not how the story goes at all, lol.
Neither did they ask for that nor say that (literally from the very first encounter onwards they say the exact opposite, actually), nor did it go as easily as you say.
Not sure how you read the texts that it came out as warped for you as it seemingly did.
As for the story, I think it was overall the best one in the game yet. Especially the ending felt really nice and quite like a good finish to this saga/"main story".
Wasn't disappointed in the slightest in that regard... but the starting zone of this expansion felt a bit lackluster imho. Thankfully, you switch zones quite early.

It really doesn't, I mean, if it weren't spoilers I'd quote the exact parts where they say the exact opposite because I remember most of that stuff word to word even.
You are projecting something that isn't there.
From who actually goes there and what they want to do and why they go there and only them and not someone else.
To how the other party reacts towards the whole thing and how they view it and what they want from them.
It seems like you either didn't quite understand that or you simply skipped it? Maybe?
None of what you said is even remotely how it happend, what they said or how it went. Seriously. In part, it's the exact opposite.

Specifically, I mean the main story arc, which I will rant about later in detail in the spoiler thread.
What I liked about ShB was the moral ambiguity, which they essentially threw out the window from the first cutscene in EW. The about face was so abrupt I figured shenanigans only to discover there were none. I expected grey and I got black & white with the nuance of ShB all but completely stripped from the main narrative and characters.
EW separated from ShB is a good expansion, but following it didn't work for me. I felt like a foundation was set up in ShB that wasn't built upon and they decided to go with all new construction instead.
