I love that as a response to a compliment. It's so manga like. I can just imagine a girl jumping up and down waving their arms like \o/ saying "Yay me!"

The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings were actually what REALLY got me into reading when I was a kid. Before that I was sort of interested but didn't love it nearly as much as I do now.

The first series I really read through to completion and adored was Jedi Apprentice by Jude Watson when I was like 10. (They're still good now =D)
Then Magician by Raymond E Feist, then Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings =D

I think fishing was till first though because with sheep they had to go through that whole domestication thing... Although the mental image of some caveman running around chasing a prehistoric sheep trying to shear it is pretty funny.

I was really bad at history when I was a kid, but apparently that was because my teachers taught it as a bunch of random fact we had to memorize. However, when I got to college and my professors taught history they taught it a lot like a story and once we learned about one thing they would link it to the next thing in various ways. That made it much easier to remember.

Indeed, even in 6th form we were being taught it through stories / narrations / discussion which makes it easier and much more fun.

I want to learn: Japanese, Russian, Italian, Spanish (already have a good start with that need to get up to fluency), French, Latin, and Gaelic.

I'd suggest trying to get a Rosetta Stone CD from Amazon or Ebay, they are very expensive but very good.

We really can't have people start to do this.. than everyone will and no one will know what number it is ever... and that matters!
