Cross-Realm Dungeon Feature Coming Soon

Today, we wanted to give you a heads up about a new feature currently in development that will allow players to invite Real ID friends of the same faction to a party regardless of the realm they play on, and then queue up for a 5-player regular or Heroic dungeon.

As this is a fairly complex service to develop, we don’t have a release date to share quite yet. It’s important to note that as with some of the other convenience- and connectivity-oriented features we offer, certain elements of the cross-realm Real ID party system will be premium-based, though only the player sending the invitations will need to have access to the premium service. We'll have more details to share with you as development progresses -- in the meantime, you may begin to see elements of the feature appear on the World of Warcraft PTR.

Which release would you call the bigger success?
Wait until Guild Wars 2 releases and eat your words.

I pay 15 bloody USD a month, thats a LOT of money. If they can't give me all the features in the game then fine, Ill find another game that will.

    Good move.

Have you looked at giving Guild Wars a try? They have a sequel coming out in about a year and until then you can fully enjoy the first game since it doesn't have a subscription fee.

This is completely expected. Activision-Blizzard has WoW on autopilot. WoW didn't only lose subscribers the first quarter, it also didn't turn a profit and ended up costing the company money. Of course they're going to pull out some prepackaged feature they had in development on the back burner throw it out to the public and charge for it to make up the shortfall. WoW won't go F2P until they wind down the administration surrounding it and get it down to a reasonable level where they can have a Premium Account and a Free Account just like Turbine did with LOTRO, until then they're going to pump out new features/services that should be included with your base subscription and charge for them. Fact of the matter is, the US in the middle of a depression with only 45.4% of the population working, the lowest in the history of record keeping. If they want to maintain a profitable business, they're going to have to cut administrative costs, and that usually means layoffs.

What's a success? It depends entirely on your definition of that word as to how you interpret that question.

WoW is certainly more successful both financially and in reputation.

Guild Wars however has been "free" since release, selling a vast number of units for a non traditional style (instanced) MMO.

Guild Wars has also enabled its company to create a sequel, a "traditional" MMO sequel, with no time scale - a it's done when its done approach. Meaning that GW2 may possibly be one the first MMOs this decade to not be pushed for an earlier release due to money issues.

    note to self...
dont ever buy any game that activision have branded... unless you want to pay for EVERYTHING other than basic game that is overpriced as hell anyway to begin with.

i just really hope that blizz will snap out of this shit and break any deals with activision they might have... this piece of shit company will destroy the greatest game making company in history :/

What a bunch of a-holes. Nothing in this game ever comes for free, might aswell wait for GW2/LOL/ or something atleast I just pay one time instead of getting leeched all the time. They could like give transfers free or stuff...

If Guild Wars 2 is actually decent, I can see people flocking to it.

Why? Because it's free with micro-transactions. Now, WoW is looking more and more like paid with micro-transactions.

I'm perfectly fine with race changes and what not being paid. Hell, sell useless mounts, that's fine. But this is a feature that's really, really nice and it's a thorn that it should cost money.

I mean, I know I haven't been complaining about the paid services that I'm not paying for.
I believe he's implying that "that guy shouldn't get to do something new and fun in this game just because he has the money to pay extra." I tend to agree. Aside from the flat fee, money transaction should have little to do with the in-game. Blizzard used to agree too, but their greed has apparently gotten to them.

In before Premium users get ahead of lines in LFD and BG queues, faster response to in-game tickets, more achievements, more armor&weapon models, new emotes etc... "It's okay though since it doesnt affect gameplay!".
It'll be interesting to see where Activision will draw the line in the end. Well I truly hope you people think hard and long before handing over your money for these services. Only you can decide when it's enough.

GW and GW2 give transfers free, if that's something that can cheer you up.

Exactly, as stated earlier, quit WoW for a few months (chances are when your finished with a content patch you'll be back before a new one is released anyway) and use the money you save to buy a MMO that is free until... well the servers go down.

I would love to know where all you whiny people who are filled with this mistaken sense of entitlement came from. I would also like to know when exactly it became evil for a company to actually want to make money off the products it produces.

I pay $75 a month for satellite TV. But I still don't get free HBO cause that's a separate product and costs extra. How is this any different? Oh wait, its not. The only way anyone has a right to complain is if Blizzard comes out with a premium service that so massively changes the game that it becomes all but required in order to play. Like if they started charging to use the LFD tool. THAT would be a valid complaint. All of you sound like you are just expecting Blizzard to give you everything they ever produce just because you give them $15 a month.

... and that will prove to be quite a while to go, with ArenaNet having announced that GW1 servers will stay up until there is no one who wants to play anymore. Yeah servers really are that cheap, unlike what Blizzard wants you to believe.
