To add to this: EA Sports is releasing NHL 13 on 9/11, A Testament to Sherlock Holmes, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, NBA Baller Beats, and Ragnarok Odyssey off the top of my head are also releasing on 9/11. Yes, it is a day American's and a lot of people around the world will remember, it doesn't mean the world comes to a standstill however.
WOW simply evolved to remove tedium that for some people celebrate as difficulty or work from the game so that people spent more time enjoying the game instead of seeing it as a job. -ZeroWashu
I just remembered earlier, PTRs for me were usually unplayable due to latency. So maybe I'll test out a few characters and then just uninstall it again.
So they:
-announce that people with access to the beta will not be able to access the ptr;
-make a point of saying it's a limitation per WoW account, not battle.net account;
-start a sale on WoW (10 dollars for vanilla/tbc, 30 dollars for everything) on the very same day.
I do think it would be insane to pay for access to the ptr, but a lot of people are bound to do it regardless. Am I the only one who thinks that's a little too obvious?

That's like saying "some people aren't on the beta, they have no reason to buy another copy of the game". The point is, a lot of people won't be able to access the PTR unless they were to buy another copy of the game, and they declared a sale on the very same day.
The beta has everything that'll be in 5.0.1, plus more. I don't know why someone with a beta account would want access to the PTR when they already have the ability to test all of that stuff on the beta.
Maybe they specifically want feedback on 5.0.1 from people who haven't played the beta.
Am I the one only that reads this like
"If you didn't get into the beta by signing up to the annual pass, you can still get into a version of the beta which we will call PTR."
This is basically allowing every WoW player access to beta content adn to control the numbers, beta players cannot get on
Can we currently download the PTR, and just not access it yet?
They haven't even put up the ability to pre-order the CE at all. The date that real pre-orders came out for Cataclysm was July 21st and even then that was with a release date of December 7...do people really think that they are going to release a game only giving people a month to actually pre-order the thing???
You can download PTR
It will be ver. 4.3.something
The PTR servers will be down for now
.. when 5.0. will go up, you will have to just* patch it..
* - patch might be so big, that difference between patch and "fresh PTR" is neglactable.
I find the fact that you can't play the 5.0.1 PTR if you have beta to be an insult to all of the people who bought the annual pass. By doing that they are punishing people for buying something from them.
I know if you have Beta you are already testing pretty much the same content but there is no good reason to not let people play the PTR.
I hope this PTR doesn't end up like the WotLK or Cata PTR tests where the servers would crash all the damn time.
Seriously people?? Why are so many people made that you can't get into the PTR if your flagged with the beta? The PTR is most likely just showing those that don't have beta what the talent system is going to be like and so on. I highly doubt that it's going to be very significant to play on, and since it's the pre-MoP patch, I would assume that the Beta has a whole lot more to test and play then the PTR will... and who knows, maybe they just don't want the flood gates opened on the PTR servers so they could've just left the beta flaggers out to keep from screwing the latency lag. Just sayin :P
Oh really...where? Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target, Gamespot to name a few have NO trace of the CE, much less an option to preorder.
I'm amazed that you can apparently preorder a CE from some magical place before Blizzard has even announced it. You must've used Doc's Delorean to travel forward in time to place your CE order.
What makes you think the PTR will be playing any content on beta now? Sounds to me like they will just be doing the Theramore scenario and any other pre-MoP events leading up to the release of the expac.
•While testing 5.0.1, players will not be able to access zones or content that is a part of the Mists of Pandaria expansion.
