Na, some people that have difficulty with English (Russians!) sometimes refer to the jungle as the woods.

So like.. do you have to stay in your lanes or something? Seems like it would be restrictive.

No you don't have to stay, each lane has 3 towers and minion waves that walk down those lanes. To gain money you will kill the minions, so you split up between the lanes for efficiency. In between the lanes is the Jungle area which has its own creeps that respawn on timers, one player will farm those creeps but also gank the lanes to try and secure kills for his team.

In early days of LoL there was also a "roamer" that literally just walked from lane to lane trying to gank, but thats not really used anymore.

Well, thats what most of its player base thinks too :P

But you can lose the fights to enemy players really badly and still win the game if you do a good job of killing the turrets/base. We once won a game where we hid in the jungle and when the enemy went for a major objective we rushed into their base to win. They were pretty mad at us!
