the first thread was too big for the forum software to handle, it used to display wrong postcounts

No, it was within the past few months. I had the page with my first post bookmarked for nostalgia and it's gone back 81 pages. I also know that the link correctly went to the page with that post not too long ago. It's also on the top of the page now, which it definitely wasn't when I first posted it.

Back when it was open and we hit special pages people would delete posts so that theirs were the special number post.

I know it did,but after it got locked they left it as it was for the longest time, I'm just not sure why it'd change now.

Not sure. My first thought was that someone deleted a lot of their old posts, but it's possible there was a mod cleaning some stuff out in there, for whatever reason.
