I'm curious what the comic fans thought.

I own maybe one or two Marvel comics, all the others are DC and mostly Batman (still have an original copy of The Death of Superman from 1992).

I really liked the movie. I've wanted to see Batman and Superman in the same movie since I was a little kid.

The story could have used a little more work, specifically Alex Luthor. I didn't really get a feel for his motivation in all of this, other he's just out for power and Batman/Superman can get in his way.

Overall this movie really feels like it was made for the comic fans. They really put everything in there they could try to fit. I was smiling and almost giggling like an idiot when one of the parademons knocked Batman out.

I saw it in iMax 3D, and I'll probably see it again in theaters before it's gone. I really liked it.

I'm glad it wasn't full of stupid fart jokes or dumb puns like Marvel, that's why I like DC over Marvel. I prefer dark or humor.

The fans thought that they tried to make a single movie based on Batman vs Superman, the death of Superman, a little bit of Flash time paradox with a little bit on Injustice Gods amongst Us...
And shitting on the source material with all of it...
They were playing catch up to Marvel and trying to make the same marvel did in almost 8 or 9 years in a single movie...

Im a comic book guy, DC and Marvel since the 80's, and if you really knew your DC books you would see wtf was wrong with the Movie...
Me as a fan im fucking pissed that i will never have a PROPER "The Death of Superman" story on the big screen...because they blew it in this one...

But instead of trying to get a better movie by pointing the flaws with this one, DC fans are trying to bash Marvel movies...
Making a movie dark and gritty just for the sake of it doesnt make a movie feel more "mature" (buzzword used by fans to try to justify it)..its dark and griity to try to appeal to the 13 year olds that think that liking that will make them cool and edgy... ffs

10 years ago when the joker was younger he killed jason todd.

so, if we assume that the joker surfaced a couple years or so before he killed todd that would mean he showed up anywhere between 15 - 11 years ago. maybe even sooner.

Jared Leto pulled off some fu*ked up shit while shooting Suicide Squad. From straight petrifying Margot Robbie, to making his director David Ayer hire a therapist, to sending his co-stars a live, squirming rat with a side of dead hog--the dude really let himself go.

Well, it sounds like Leto went full Joker mode and maybe took it too far this time. And I quote:

I've always agreed Joker's basically asexual, there's no interest in it. I don't even buy the "he wants to fuck Batman" claims. There's a twisted interdependent relationship psychology, but I also don't subscribe to Freud's "every aspect of the human condition is entirely sexual" arguments either.

It's probably more the old stories, but there was often a sense of Joker finding his crimes hilarious. Murder is the punchline.

See his strategy in regards to getting to Commissioner Gordon via his daughter.

Fairly devisive story, though, and demonstrably a one off (as it was originally intended to be). He hasn't done anything similar since then.

And even in The Killing Joke, I feel there's still a consistency. Barbara's stripped and photographed to graphically show the gunshot wound she's bleeding out from. The intent being to drive Gordon insane. If it had worked, at least how I've always interprted Joker, the "punchline" would be something along the lines of "Don't look at me. I just shot her and took some pictures of the wound. I never actually touched the girl."

The joke being Gordon's own imagination and fears of what was done drive him insane more than what Joker actually did.

Of course, The Killing Joke is a very interpretive story, up to the end where there's been debate if it's supposed to be Batman finally killing Joker and going insane himself.

Ben Affleck to direct and star in standalone Batman film

Ben Affleck will be pulling double duty as the Caped Crusader, and we don't mean playing both Batman and Bruce Wayne.

The actor will star and direct in a new stand-alone Batman film, Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara announced at Las Vegas' CinemaCon on Tuesday.

Tsujihara also announced that Affleck will star as the hero in the upcoming Justice League film, the first part of which is set for release next year.

Affleck made his first appearance as Gotham's dark knight in last month's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice."

A new Batman film starring and being directed by Affleck had been rumored since the summer.

Affleck has a strong resume as both an actor and a director. The actor has starred in and directed hit films like "The Town" and "Argo." "Argo" went on to win the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2013.

"Batman v Superman" debuted last month to the biggest March opening weekend in history, with a $166.1 million total in North America.

The film by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros, which like CNN is owned by Time Warner, has so far brought in $785.7 million at the global box office.

Oh my - that will likely be excellent; DC's animated universe has been a cut above for most of its existence, and Hamil's Joker is great (even when he's inexplicably on The Flash ).

Apparently the original cut is almost 4 hours. The editing was pretty atrocious and I'm guessing the studio forced certain choices but 4 hours is fucking ten commandments epic. I wonder if the movie is better in the original cut. Sure Martha will still be awful but maybe some of the other stuff won't seem so disjointed. Basically you could cut out every dream sequence and every jla plug and save another 30 minutes and nothing would be lost. If you have to have a jla plug do it after the credits have that gal godot lap top scene. Also we don't need to know how batman became batman for the millionth time. Is anyone really not aware? Like even just tangentially. Or is the Waynes being murdered like an Easter pageant? Have to have it done every year...

The Amazing Spider-man 2 was supposedly more than three hours long in its original cut, but that doesn't give it a pass for shoving too many storylines into one script and running with it.

Its so fucking stupid and contrived. It reminds me of that Simpsons episode when milhouse is about to get his ass handed to him by another kid named milhouse until they both realize they have the same name.

Bruce Wayne billionaire super genius 20 year detective was manipulated so easily and superman the world's strongest man had his arm twisted so easily. He can apparently fly to nairomi to save Lois Lane at the drop of a hat (and does it like 4 times in the movie) but for his mother apparently not. Batman has everyone telling him he's being stupid, we in the audience know he's being stupid and the only thing dumber than following through with his stupid plan is to turn around and stop cause their mothers share the same first name which incidentally could have saved us the 30 minute fight scene if superman landed on the roof of the building and said hey bats Luther is manipulating he's got my mom Martha hostage I need your help. No instead we get two 30 minutes of two people we don't give a shit about brawling over issues that don't matter (after all its all the result of manipulation from Facebook buddy) in a grey pallet that doesn't even have the satisfaction of a little blood spilled only to be resolved by the most contrived coincidence their mothers have the same name le which then causes seemingly mentally retarded batman to throw away the one thing they need later to stop doomsday! No stakes, nothing invested it may as well be two drunk asshiles at a bar filmed on a handycam. WELL DONE GOYER. I have a hard time believing this is written by the same man who had a hand in the dark knight but he's got the credit.

Look marvel had civil war coming out a movie about largely the same premise with two Bros going at it. It will be vastly superior, the stakes will feel real the investment will feel real the outcomes will have payoff and consequences. Shit luthor blows up fucking congress and then forget about it in the next 5 minutes.

I agree. The theatrical release was too long for what it was. I'm mostly just curious about their editing decisions. I'm convinced the studio forced them to keep shit in.

How would Superman know Batman was reasonable? All he knew about him was that he had really fucked up ways of torturing people and that he sentenced them to death with his brand.


This Batman's hardened, darker. Of course he didn't stop and think, you saw his mindset. With me or against me. Superman brought him back to his good self, to having hope. His final speech shows that Clark rubbed off him.


Clark tried talking to him but the traps made it clear Batman wanted to take him out. The Kryptonite made him realise it was life or death with him.

I mean superman says I need to go meet him and get his help so on some level superman must think he can reach batman and the best fucking way to do that would be to lead with the relevant information. I mean it must be really fucking hard for superman to fly up in the fucking air and say hey bats this is what's up... and batman is so dead set to kill superman he abandons it at the mere coincidence that the mothers share a name which is only revealed to him because for some odd reason instead of saying you're killing my mother he says you're killing Martha. How the fuck is batman supposed to know who Martha is? But that doesn't matter cause guess what their mothers share the same name! CONTRIVED AT EVERY POINT.
