I guess we're all stuck wondering what type of immortality you have, but it's not like it would be tattooed on your chest or in a user manual or something. Depending on the type of immortality, it could take you a long time before you noticed. If you still aged, could still get sick and injured and still needed daily sustenance, you'd probably be a couple hundred in before you realized you were in for the long haul.

"I've been immortal on this planet for two hundred years and haven't done anything with my life! Oh. Well, oh well. Whatever, I got time to do something with this super power later. Time to get online and give a first hand account of some historical conspiracy I could potentially have witnessed. Again."

probably work towards conquering the world. become the shadowy hand that moves humanity forward in the direction I'd like it to go. basically be a super villain without all the ego and need for attention.

Collect ALL the porn in the world (minus childporn) and conquer humanity in the process. The latter is more or less necessary because otherwise I'll never catch up.

    Biologically immortal or indestructable immortal?

Indestructable immortal would be pretty bleak but I guess make the most of it while you can. The rest of your eternity might be spent alone in eternal darkness.

Pfft. I wouldn't want to be in a forever 20 body. About 26 to 33 is much better. You've matured completely and are in prime.

But yeah. The question is aging thing. Am I the same age as when I gained this immortality? As in if I'm 12 I'll always be "12" or this the you never die but end up elderly person walking with a cane. Need more info.

Eh, that sounds like a lot of work. I'd have to write a book, at the very least. That can wait until later. I'm immortal, I'm in no hurry.

You still don't understand what the word means. Immortality means you don't die from natural causes. You can still be killed.

This is easily the only logical response. All others are wrong.

I actually wrote a story about a man who couldn't die and whose sole purpose was to find the secret to doing so. Really got into the whole 'every single person you ever meet will be gone' deal, and theorized and tried a bunch of ways to sever the immortal coil.

If that happened to me, I wouldn't really pay much attention to current events because on an infinite timeline what actually matters? Not much. What does matter is going to vary too much from person to person to pin down but for me it'd be all secret stuff, important things worth hiding and preserving.
Ever watch Doctor Who? This is one of themes of it.

Curse? for social/emotional animals yes, but for others it's a blessing.

First, please define the kind of immortality we're talking about.
Second, if it were the real deal (nothing kills you, ever), I'd just do what I always do - observe and absorb knowledge, only with the added benefit of not needing food or sleep anymore.

Honestly the only bad thing would be the inevitable dementia after a few millenia; but even that fades with time.

That's only one of scenario (a wrong one). Another is the "real deal", where you don't need any energy intake to function, and even if you're vaporized you eventually re-assemble - think Dr. Manhattan without the conscious effort needed to piece yourself together. In fact, that might be a good way to get some rest every so often... hmm.

Btw, think about the word for a moment, immortality. Inability to die. So not really "no death by anything other than old age", that's still death.

Some but not much, didn't really click with me but I'm glad they're running with that premise in the story.

It was also some part of the plot of that terrible Wolverine movie.

Or you might be imprisoned by the government so they can study you as a lab rat while they keep you caged. Remember, you're immortal, not super-powerful or invincible. They can dissect you while you live, without the need to even anestethyze you as your tissues would repair assuming you can't die in any way. Or you'd die there on the table if the immortality was only regarding age.

That's not immortality, that's invincibility. Two very different things. Immortality cannot die from within (natural causes). Invincibility cannot die from anything outside of their body (Can still die of old age)

In other words you won't be treated like a human anymore but more like an object, an item and you'd be put through painful tests and etc.

I myself would definitely keep it a secret. The last thing you need is for crazy people to know there is a powerless immortal walking among them.
Now if we also had a set of powers with our immortality, then we'd be talking about something completely different.
Thats why I said "at the right time!" haha. It'd be easy to start a cult following that everyone writes off as the "crazies" and feds only keeping an eye out for violent activity. The cult would grow as your ability proves itself to the interested, and by the time authorities realize it might be time to do something it might be too late. You've just gotta supervillain orchestrate your reveal.

I think he was thinking immortality a-la The Highlander or Wolverine. Not invincible like superman, but will always recover.
