So as im sure everyone has seen of the Death Knight campaign in Legion;
Thoras Trollbane is being raised as a Death Knight.
Whats interesting is that he mentions that Galen had killed him, which until now was :
This paints a very different picture of Stromgarde considering the claim that Galen had his father assassinated. Do you think Galen was working with the Syndicate before they apparently turned on him to take Stromgarde for themselves? He says in quest text that he hated the Syndicate in life and still does in death. It would fit that he doesnt like them if they helped him kill his father and double crossed him or if they just took advantage of his sole succession of his father.Thoras Trollbane met his end when he was assassinated under mysterious circumstances following the Third War.This was merely the beginning of Stromgarde's darkest hour, as the kingdom soon came under siege by forces of the Syndicate and Boulderfist ogres. Without the leadership of their feared warrior king, the armies of Stromgarde could not stop the Syndicate and Boulderfist and they now managed to occupy much of its terrain, including most of the capital city. Thoras was succeeded as Stromgarde's ruler by his son, Prince Galen Trollbane.
What was Galen's motives? Other than being a ruler he didnt gain anything aside a kingdom in ruins. Galen managed to hold off a small wing of the city until the Horde killed him in Vanilla and raised him as a forsaken in Cataclysm. We see in the Death Knight quest that Forsaken Galen was successful in claiming the city for the most part, but his own text suggests he is no longer an ally of Sylvanas and would stand against her. This is a complete 180 from how he was in Cataclysm:
So what is up with Galen? He just a shitty son who was craving power so bad he had his old man killed and then ran the kingdom into the dirt because he underestimated how much his father held it together? Sounds like another human prince.Following his resurrection as a Forsaken, Galen has become even more somber and reserved. Death appears to have humbled the young prince significantly and he now claims that he sees himself merely as an instrument of the Banshee Queen's will. Undeath has not dulled his determination however, and he seeks to use Trol'kalar solely for the benefit of the Dark Lady
