Have you heard about the "lost" voter registrations in New York?

    What's the deal with this?

"I voted in New York's primary today, but I'm not smiling because, like so many other New Yorkers, I don't know if my vote will be counted or not. I am one of the tens of thousands of voters whose registration was inexplicably changed, inaccurate, or missing and had to cast an affidavit ballot.
No matter who you want to get the nomination, if you are interested in a fair and democratic process, you should be upset about this.

Some info: "The city’s Board of Elections was pummeled with questions Monday about how 54,000 Democratic voters vanished from the rolls in Brooklyn."
    Source: http://nypost.com/2016/04/19/54000-b...f-primary-day/

"With less than 24 hours until the presidential primary, a group of New Yorkers who saw their party affiliations mysteriously switched are filing a lawsuit Monday seeking to open the state’s closed primary so that they can cast a ballot."
    Source: http://thinkprogress.org/politics/20...imary-lawsuit/

"A bill currently before the Assembly would open up the presidential primary to those who are not members of a party. It is laid over in the election law committee, and if past efforts to expand voter access in New York are a guide, it may never see the light of day."

The usual suspects will show up and tell us that the USA is technically a republic. The un-Democratic candidate and next president will be Hillary Clinton and the attention will be shifted to another war in the middle east or africa.

Irrelevant in context. Dropping people from the voter list entirely is not acceptable. That and the party registration thing might simply have been accidents, but it's still a problem.

The "no party" thing for the primary is a different story. You should vote for the primary of your affiliated party. If you don't have one, you get to wait for the general election.

Yeah, but it still needs to be repaired. At least this wasn't the general election.

That would probably be due to China spending billions in Africa establishing a foothold there.

Sounds like your hero Putin, so how come you do not support her but you support him unwaveringly?

Plus this is the party political contest for the nomination, it does not have to be democratic. They could pick the candidate based on whatever criteria they choose to, as the democratic part comes in the election.

What's going on is, both the Republicans and Democrats write the rules for their own primary elections. In NY the Democrats specified that only Democrats could vote for a Democrat candidate, independents and Republicans can't vote for a Democrat. Some independents wanted to vote for Bernie but can't.

Rules are rules and it's been this way for years.

Honestly, from the 3 articles it would appear that there's more to the story than that. 116k people were registered Democrats and had not changed their affiliation yet they now found that they were no longer registered as Democrats, some being registered as Republicans, some simply erased from the lists fully with entire blocks of people gone.

I actually read how some went to court and it was found that their signatures had been forged or how they have been removed from the lists after the October date (when it was the last time this could be done unless they died or something like that.

Now, I know that if there would have been a few hundreads maybe it would have been a mistake... but at 116.000 people it's a bit more than that.

Mind you, Bernie would still not have won even if all those would have come and voted for him as I understood the difference was huge in Hillary's favour but the point is that the situation is still fishy and not ok.

The entire process is messed up. This is just one more thing to add to the problem. Its not surprising. Votes go missing nearly every election. Like it matters with gerrymandering being a thing. They can draw the political lines to make your vote not even count anyway. Not sure why missing votes is a concern. There are worse things that happen with the election.
