You know, a couple of years ago while I've always considered myself pretty much in support of all LBGT rights but I used to think a line needed to be drawn at bathroom access. I was thinking purely in terms of women being uncomfortable sharing a bathroom with MtF-trans people and not having any say in the matter. I like to think that apart from that I was fairly accepting but I obviously had a fairly stupid and arbitrary line drawn in the sand.

But you know what? I've been lucky enough to have my eyes opened to the struggle trans people go through for acceptance as a good friend of mine has been on that journey. They've taken it in stages for a couple of years and just recently "came out" to the world. We never actually had a discussion on that particular topic as it's not something that comes up in casual conversation, but now I know it was important. I will fully admit that I was ignorant to the importance of this issue to trans people but I've had my eyes opened by having the issue personalized. I've changed my views accordingly. So much so that it has now swung around into being a non-issue.

People can grow and change. Even ignorant white-trash and religious nuts.

Everywhere in NC - for example-, a man can just go inside a women's restroom and claim to be a Trans man now. Because they look exactly like cis men. That is what the lawmakers there caused in their crazy Anti-Trans frenzy. It actually got easier for potential predators.

Also, if someone really wants to commit a crime, do you really think they are waiting for such a rule? Like, seriously? Do you really think they are trying to find that loophole despite the fact that raping someone is illegal anyway (and thus unrightfully entering a restroom is the least of their worries)?

Yeah a discriminatory law or change in policy would prevent men going into women's rest rooms to rape any women there. What an utter joke.

You keep using the word fact, but I do not think it means what you think it means. Something does not become a fact simply because you feel strongly about it (appeal to emotion). Something does not become a fact simply because a lot of people believe it to be so (bandwagon). Something does not become a fact simply because an authority you recognize says it is so (appeal to authority). I could use the same faulty logic to say the existence of God is a fact because I, several billion other people, and many with a great deal of authority say so. Debating something as complex as weather homosexual activity is behavioral or genetic and comparing it to something incredibly simple such as the sum of 2+2 is a (false equivalence).

Except that it isn't. There is definitive proof that it's inherent and biological. The same proof exists for transgenderism. Scentific proof. This isn't opinion, it's fact.

That it's not as simple as the sum of 2+2 is irrelevant, since the conclusion follows from the evidence just as clearly.

This law wouldn't stop a rapist, you know why? Because laws against rape won't stop a rapist. All this law does is possibly punish trans people for something you think men will do, but won't because a bathroom is too easy of a place to get caught. The stuff you are worried about happening are already outlawed and will be punished if they do happen to happen. Peeping tom laws and laws against rape will punish someone that actually harms someone, but pooping in a box next to someone else is not harming them. Furthermore, have you seen how crowded our bathrooms tend to be? No one is getting raped with that many people around.
