Maybe, but with CGI and makeup you can change how a person looks quite a bit. Besides, I don't mind all members of one race not looking the same. We had never seen slim orcs before the pale orcs in WoD, but in the movie there are several. A few elves with rounder faces, darker skin and squinty eyes (is that racist? I don't know which word would be appropiate there) are fine in my book.

You guys are still talking about the ONE elf. haha

So anyway, before I start to take a step back away from the thread more and more before I can see it in 3 weeks (UGH) something that I've been thinking about. I honestly think this movie will get slammed by critics for two reasons in particular, and just as a point, I honestly don't give a crap, but I'm very VERY ready to see it pop up from time to time.

First: It looks like Warcraft. It looks and feels like something is completely out of the ordinary, it's over the top and it's not gritty (GoT) and moody all the time. This will vary obviously, but I think this will be the biggest one. The proportions alone will be an eye opener for those critics out there who honestly just aren't into it.

Second: It will be an obvious setup film in the case that it even will have a possible mid credits scene. Some even from the recent press viewings were intrigued by the idea of what will happen next (Thrall's outcome). But I am super ready to see a lot of people unsatisfied with the very idea of this movie setting up a universe with continued characters. Comic Book movies in general live by this, but Warcraft and other big movies based on universes aren't a one page thing, and ALOT of critics will see this as a turn off and a ''waste of time''.

I'm not even going to list the ''I can't understand this because I didn't play the games'' becuase thats a bullshit statement and ANY review who brings that up will automaticly be pretty much ignored for me. ''gamerz''

Wait, the issue here isn't that you can't read, but that I didn't make it overly obvious? What?

They should be precluded if they don't match the image. Maybe some Asians have the perfect cheeks, the perfect long faces, the perfect eyes. The guy in the video doesn't. And my problem isn't even Asians being High Elves. My problem is that they're not sticking to trying to make them look like High Elves, as evidenced by that Asian guy and Duncan replying that High Elves are diverse just like humans. They're gonna give them the hair, the eyebrows, the glowing eyes, but other than that? No.

I don't think we, the fans, have to worry. Unless you're extremely close-minded about lore changes, it's pretty much a love letter. It's our movie.

The general audience isn't a hivemind, there are people who love anything with magic and CGI, and there are those who despise blockbusters. But in a world where Marvel movies are a huge success, I don't see why Warcraft wouldn't deserve recognition. I don't know if it'll do too well because of the awful marketing campaign, but I hope the fans, the reviews and the word of mouth will make more people interested during these couple of weeks before the US release.

And they didn't. He still looks Asian, and not like a High Elf.

Well, there is a world premiere tomorrow at 7pm (CEST) and I'm going so yeah. We'll get our first reviews from random people and fans obviously. Can't believe the wait is finally over after 10 years for many of us.

A yellow cat with long ears, eyebrows and blue shiny eyes looks like a high elf. If humans and orcs come in all colours, sizes and shapes, there's no reason all high elves have to look the same.

Again, high elves have very specific facial features. A high elf is not comprised of his ears, eyebrows, and eyeglow... They need that flawless beauty aspect.

And all orcs are huge and muscular.

And all Stormwind humans are white.

There's not really any evolutionary basis for much diversity amongst their population
    though.

Orcs have always had size variety (Grom is supposed to be more lithe and less bulky
than the other orcs.) And humans have been mixed for ages with even their evolutionary
    ancestors being multicolored.

Elves have pretty much always looked the same unless exposed to certain kinds of magic,
which tends to create a new species of elf.

There's no evolution in Warcraft. The Curse of Flesh could be an excuse if you really need one.

This kinda makes you sound racist when you apply it to Asians playing high elves. As for long faces the Japanese are examples of east Asians having them and not round like the Chinese.

I'd argue there is, given the vast diversity in the crab and snail populations.

Though most things that would normally be evolutionary are based in magic in
Warcraft, yes. However, there's also not really a basis for any magic to be making
the population more diverse in Silvermoon. (Part of why I still assume this guy
    is a half elf.)

I don't apply to it Asians right now, though. I apply it to that one Asian.
Regardless, I see where you're coming from. The thing is, the high elves look very western. They have western faces, with the white western ideal of flawless beauty. You can have Asians as the base of flawless beauty, too, but not the high elven kind.

Black Vrykul? Hmmm...I don't believe movie will care for backstory of various races so it is fine to have different races for different species..

Blood Elves who were initially High Elves, have facial features in some areas similar to Chinese/Korean features. Especially eyes. So, while its hard to base Chinese High Elf in the movie on evolutionary explosion (cause, basically, there were no deserts and winds of sand in the places where Elves lived) it can be explained by the desire of developers to adapt WC Universe in all areas.

Also, Daniel Wu who played GulDan, would be 10/10 hit as Illidan who is the Night Elfe. Actually, Asian races are good for Night Elves characters. Some of them have really sharp facial structure, perfect for that race.

Also dont forget that actor who also plays High Elf. He is perfect for an Ef. 100/10. Just add longer hair with classic haircut longer ears and brows.
