Edit: also disappointing to hear about Berserk. I actually rather liked the original Berserk, up until That Ending. I don't care if it's part of the manga, that is the worst place to cut a series off ever.

Cgiserk episode 1 - 4/10. Welp. Even in the manga this was a bit of a shit chapter to restart a series on and Puck is as annoying as I'd imagined him to sound in my head. This is going to be an awkward/strange start for anyone that doesn't know Beserk, somewhat annoying, but accurate for those that do. People that are actually fans of the CGI movies will probably love it.

The art and animation is a complete shit festival. In some parts, it looks almost amazing, with a few key scenes and frames actually looking legitimately great, making me wonder if they were CG or hand drawn. The majority of the CG art is fucking awful though. The skeletons in particular were pathetic. The opening song's intro animation is actually better than what's made it into the show itself. In places, the animation flows really well, in dynamically angled shots and flurries of action, in others, it just looks clunky and robotic, especially on secondary characters. Also they shouldn't have stretched Guts' face out, it just looks stupid in a lot of shots. His armor also looks embarrassingly bad, the arm in particular is distracting whenever it's on screen.

The sound design is mostly good, aside from Puck's voice. However, the music is pretty bad. It's the same kind of awful opera-metal from the movie trilogy and I hate it. I also don't get why they're using it, when they have a goddamn next episode preview, using what seems to be a new Susumu Hirasawa track. Fuck them for that. One of the most unexpected, positive notes on the sound design is Guts' sword. The explosive clangs and swooshes as it cuts through the air are great.

It's a mess.

First episode of ReLIFE was good. Seems like it could be a decent adaptation. With it being July 4th weekend my casino is going to be packed which means overtime which means less time to watch cartoons MY LIFE IS SUFFERING.

Also probably gonna drop Kuma Miko for now. I gave it 3 episodes and it didn't really do anything for me. It wasn't bad, just probably a victim of Flying Witch's comfy vibes being so good that everything else seems kinda meh in comparison atm.
