If you have a PCI-E x16 slot you'll be fine.

    Does that cover it ?

    Expansion Slots:

    •1 PCI Express x16 (Gen3.0)
    •3 PCI Express x1 (Gen2.0)
    •1 half-length mini card

(I don't have the foggiest idea of what those words mean, I'm just copying from my specs)

PCI Express has upward and downward compatibility, as long as you have a physical PCIE Slot on your MB (preferably x16) your card will work.

If you currently have a video card in there, then you can put the 1060 in there.

Glad to see others think that Nvidia is pushing for higher prices for their products. Or as these guys put it, Nvidia is conditioning people to pay more for their products. Good luck finding a 1060 at $250.

No, instead you'll find one for 269 or 279 with AIB cards. Also higher end AIBs will go for 289 to 319 depending on what you're looking for. Is this somehow news?

The 3 GB 1060 supposedly will go for 149$ according to this http://wccftech.com/gtx-1060-3gb-detailed-specs-leak/

Will probably end up around 199$ .

I can't be the only one seeing issues with a $100 pricing difference on the same card but with less RAM. Aka it makes no sense.

"Where the 6GB version sports a total of 1280 CUDA cores, the 3GB model features 1152 cores. The GPU has one of its 10 SM units disabled hence we are looking at a lower core count. It is rumored that the GeForce GTX 1060 with 3 GB memory comes with the cut down GP106-300-A1 core while the 6 GB variant features the GP106-400-A1 SKU"

Jen-Hsun Huang has some brass balls if he thinks this will go without repercussions. The Founders Edition crap made sense because anyone looking to spend money in that price range just had too much money and wanted the best. Clearly exploiting people with too much money. But here we have a mid range card which is already too much for $250, and another $50 extra for FE. It's obvious that Nvidia is trying to creep up prices for their products.

Like other people, I will assume the 1060 is a $300 graphics card until Nvidia dumps the whole stupid Founder Edition crap. MSRP doesn't mean shit, as shown with the 1070/1080. Who would spend $300 for this stupid graphics card? Think about it, the 1060 is between a GTX 970 and GTX 980, and costs $300. How much was a GTX 970 on release? About $320. Why purchase a 1060 when the GTX 970's has dropped significantly in price? Don't forget the RX 480 for $200.

I'd like to see what they have to compete with the RX 470 for $150? Cause a 3GB 1060 is just stupid, and I'm sure there's going to be an extra $50 for a FE version. Nvidia has made their own tax for the Nvidia faithful.

    That's no 1060 then... just call it a 1050.

That's their strategy to make people think the extra 3GB is actually useful.

  15. #75
Ya that's a 1050, that would be too confusing to people having three variants of a 1060 at all those different price points. That 3gig model is suddenly more appealing to me, if true it surely will have a better prce/performance ratio than the 1060 (like the 950 was over the 960). It should be able to trade blows with the 970 right? OR at least pretty close.

If the 1060 isnt 250$ or less, there's absolutely zero reason to buy it. I'd rather save up an extra hundred bucks for a 1070 if they are going to try to peddle the 1060 in the 300-350$ range.

Agreed. I'm seriously looking at the rx480, especially now since they have their power consuption issue sorted out. 240 bucks for an 8g card? sign me the fuck up.

Its been confirmed the standard 1060 will have a 249.99 msrp it will just be tough to find those at launch, which is expected. The real question is what the 3gig model is and what it will cost, also there is a founders edition of the 1060 that no one should buy that costs 300.

  18. #78
Why are there still close to zero benchmarks of the card? Yes there is an official NDA, but apparently every Youtuber and their grandma already has the card, all tech sites have it...and nobody leaks it anonymously?

Some cards have already been listed at near the $249 MSRP price:

what about the 980ti? When the 1070 becomes more widely available those card prices should fall even more.
