Now I am curious, who/what do you think started it?
I am you could argue that Germany started it because of the defeat and the aftermath of WW1. But then I would say that Germany still began the war.

Despite the moaning on this board, the facts show that Merkel's popularity has increased over the past few years.

This is what happens when you make reasonable politics without falling into the drama trap that other countries seem to favour these days. Germans don't like drama in politics, they want someone to run the country so they can focus on their own lives in peace. Nobody is interested in drama here. Dude, only nazis still claim that Germany was innocent in either world war. You've got to be all kinds of indoctrinated to believe that Germany wasn't the main aggressor in WW2 and if it was a victim in WW1, it was a victim of its own devices, caught up in a net of alliances that dragged it down into ruin. They may not have wanted it, but stupidity is not an excuse in global politics. They should've seen the danger.

Well, the article mentions a lot of hooligans and neonazis from surrounding states being in that rally. If they're that specific, they must know their identities/faces. I wouldn't rule out that this is an innocent rally against Merkel being subversed by right-extreme elements.
