Trial master is pretty much a gym leader then. Instead of just go and battle them they give you some quest. Its kinda similar like anime usualy has some offstorys, before final battle.

Also looking at the pokemon rides.. does this mean Hms are gone for good?

Its probaly dark/fire. (owl is probaly grass/poision and pop is probaly water/fairy)
Each counter each other. At least it would make sense. (owl poision from being a archer)

Also finaly a grass type that i will probaly use:


And ice/faily type looks interesting:

Weak to: Poision, steel (4), rock and fire
0 on: Fight
Resistant to : Ice, bug and dark
Immune to dragon

It looks like a good bait and switch pokemon. Summon it when some1 uses draco meteor and then ice beam him. And as ice type at least it has chance against fight ones.

Arcanine is special, he's one of the highest total BS non-legendary pokemon and his family is "Legendary", he's the best.
