Or maybe because people are into DC movies? Like... they got a huge fanbase. Most of those who went and watched Suicide Squad are fans you know. I mean, that is what you keep saying about the audience who went and saw Warcraft, so its good to be that case, right?
A shame this didn't happen to Warcraft though... that people actually ignored the bad reviews. I guess DC fans aren't that smart, right?

The big difference between Suicide Squad and Warcraft was marketing.
Suicide Squad proves that you don't need to have a good movie, you just need a good trailer.
Warcraft had shitty trailers.
From what I can gather, Suicide Squad's marketing budget was probably close to triple its production budget.

I doubt you could have a good trailer for Warcraft given it is very visually bland. There is nothing catchy, nothing visually satisfying. They literally had to put deleted scenes in there just to find something to show. You can throw money in it, but they are not going to create a visual porn you simply don't have.
SS trailer, however, is nothing but bland...
Orcs and knights are not particularly interesting creatures, even in a fantasy genre. Punk-looking superheroes are entirely different business.
Warcraft is a John Carter all over again: a solid franchise, but bland and unexciting visuals.
Visually bland? Please.
Finally watched it. I guess I can understand the low ratings, it's not really a movie made for the average movie goer. My only issues are:
- Orgrim was ruined. Betraying his own clan, letting Gul'dan kill him?
Where is the Orgrim that has Gul'dan begging for his life at his knees, after he killed the entire Shadow Council? They better bring him in Part 2 because this one was a cowardly weakling. The Orgrim of the novels would bash Gul'dan's brains out the moment he used Fel in a Mak'gora.
- Lothar vs Blackhand was incredibly lame. They should've at least had a 10 second explanation which tells the viewer that Fel makes orcs completely mindless brutes, based simply on instinct. Would've made more sense, but the fight was still lame.
That's about it. I liked Wrynn a lot, Garona wasn't bad at all and the film had some great small touches ( like Khadgar tearing up when Durotan has his hand on his neck, thinking he's gonna die ).
My greatest questions for the sequel, if it happens, are:
1. Who gets the Gul'dan kill? At this point Khadgar/Lothar/Orgrim/Garona all have good reasons to kill him.
2. Who's going to be Warchief next?
3. How will Lothar die?
But really not a bad movie at all. I might be biased ( I grew up playing warcraft3/WoW ) but I'd give it an 8 and put it above BvS and Suicide Squad.
Dude Rob got me so hyped with the Blizzcon footage!
Orgrim is probably my favourite orc in Warcraft and they turned him into NOTHING.
The Orgrim of our real story:
- Beat Blackhand 1v1
- Took control of the Horde, killed the Shadow Council and made Gul'dan his bitch
- Fooled the entire Alliance in the Second War and set fire to Quel'thalas
- Would've conquered Lordaeron if he hadn't decided vengeance on Gul'dan is more important
- Killed Lothar 1v1
- Escaped the Undercity, Lordaeron's prison
- Found his way back to the Orcs and started a goddamn rebellion that reunited the Horde
And this one BETRAYS Durotan, gets him and Draka killed and watches idly as Gul'dan cheats his way through the Mak'gora and kills Durotan. The real Orgrim would've charged in the second magic was used.
And why did they not use weapons in Mak'gora, anyway? Mak'gora is a duel to the death where you are allowed one weapon and no armor.
Orgrim was acting against the corrupted Durotan, and not against his clan.
Also, not going to happen: Gul'dan of the movie is not a frail warlock further weakened by coma; here he is a half-demon and easily one of the strongest orcs alive, getting stronger with each kill.

Please name just two visually stunning scenes lasting more than 30 seconds.
I definitely get what Jones was aiming for in that scene, but the problem is that you shouldn't try to imitate the great geniuses of filmmaking if you are not near their skill level.
Edit: I felt I should clarify that I got nothing against Jones, I have liked all his movies I have seen (all two of them), just saying he is no Sergio Leone.
