Is that dirt cheap, or what? That house looks like it's worth way more than $600k. We've got some relatively low housing prices, and a smaller looking mansion for sale is up for $759k. Not to mention the added cost of having to live in a small town.

right wingers flipping out over nothing, as usual. and socialism does NOT equal communism despite what Rush and other right wing idiots have been brainwashing you to believe
Seems they pay even more than I thought. That $12 billion figure is state and local taxes. They pay even more in Federal taxes.

They use an Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN), a tax processing number issued by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to ensure that people – including unauthorized immigrants – pay taxes even if they do not have a Social Security number and regardless of their immigration status.
Sounds like Bernie is retiring. Not much else he can do after Hillary threatened him with a barbell accident if he stayed in.
Sorry no refunds guys.
Our socialists (in the Netherlands) are also great at taking very good care of themselves financially.
Isnt it also the case that many socialists start out as "real" socialists becaue they have very little and once the money comes in, they are leaning more and more to the right?
It's just human nature I guess.
I have said it for a year now, Bernie Sanders was a plant to help Hillary Clinton. No refunds kids.
I may not agree with what you say but I will fight to the death to defend your right to say it.
Good going for someone who's never had a proper job in his life.
Threads like this are the reason I lost any and all interest in politics when I was 13. All politics is is people talking at each other about things that have nothing to do with politics and thinking it's making some kind of a point.

And where is your vacation home? I'm honestly pretty surprised on the number of super wealthy MMO Champion posters that can scoff at $600,000. Maybe we don't need the minimum wage to go up after all.

Actually, it really isn't that hard to be a senator, you don't necessarily have to any more skilled than any other profession. Getting into that position is more along the lines of what you are willing to do to get to that position. Now show me scientists, economists, engineers, professions that actually take a modicum of skill vying for political positions and then we might actually get there. Right now the American political process is ruled by class president lunchroom speakers who promise "An extra 5 minutes of recess" without any actual power to see it through.
Probably the dumbest "look at what the politician is doing and rage at them for anything" type of thread. This is literally "man buys house" and yet for some reason this thread is going to become 280 pages of socialist talk instead of realizing how stupid this thread is. As long as the money wasn't illegal or he didn't do something illegal to get the house I don't care. I care more about my grass turning a shade of brown more than I do about this.

I think it is more the idea that so many people had their hopes crushed that gets to everyone. The subject "Man buys house" isn't all that interesting in and of itself, but rather the idea that the person championing the middle and lower class just paid $600,000 outright for a house this soon after all the "I am one of you, I'm broke too" speeches is kind of a punch to the stomach.
Then there are the people foaming at the mouth defending it with "Pfft, $600,000 is a mere pittance", to which yes $600,000 isn't a whole lot of money for a house, but the difference is the people using that aren't differentiating between what it would take them to buy a similar house, and what it took a senator/presidential nominee. I mean, I don't just have $600,000 lying around to flat out buy a house, I am skeptical that anyone defending it so fervently on this particular message board does either. Making the median income, reported at $57,206 (Short, 2016), it would take an individual 10.5 years to save that kind of money provided they had absolutely no other expenses during that time. However, the average Sanders supporter, people who donated to his campaign make between 1/3 to a possible 2/3 of that figure annually, they will NEVER see $600,000 at once in their lifetime.
Don't get me wrong, my vote would have been cast for Sanders, although I am pretty disappointed he got on his knees to support Hillary after all this time, but I went for Gary Johnson instead. However, I think the act of dropping that amount on a house, to which Sanders has 2 others, is kind of callous after we were led to believe that he is one of us "little people" in this country.

That's rich coming from the guys supporting the candidate who's gone bankrupt over and over, is deathly afraid to let anyone see his tax returns or his apparently plagiarizing illegal-immigrant wife's immigration forms.
And i'm sitting here, having a 600 euro salary a month, which is considered a quite good amount around here, but yeah, having 3 houses is completely normal and every middle-class citizen surely have at least two in the U.S.
Some people here on MMOC are not living in this reality i guess.
