What about Snowden's info about how USA spied on European governments and corporations on a large scale while pretenting to be allies?
But not 100% of the time. Now there's always war somewhere, and somehow US always get involved, usually either waging it or backing the ones waging it.
US Allies spy on each other routinely.
A few years back, it came out that the #1 source of industrial espionage in the US was China. #2? France.
It's mostly harmless. Our allies rightly want to know that what we say to them is what is actually getting on. Really, it's mostly about understanding the context of our positions, the process and hash out alternatives. We do the same.[/quote]
US Global Defense Strategy is one of "Forward Defense". We've discussed this at length. It makes more sense to fight our enemies there than fight them here.
Plenty. Do not dare to speak for everyone. Most of the people hated the Soviet Union and understand that if it returns, it would be even worse. Heck, even now there are hints of it and people already dislike it. Yes, they're afraid the West might ravage Russia if it gets that far but nobody in their mind like Putin and what he's doing right now. He was okay in the early 00's, but right now - not so much. As for his all-time high popularity and other shit - propaganda, fixed statistics and general fear. Just like during the Soviet Union, if you're against the regime you're either silenced, disappear or die.
Ahahah of course. Propaganda and fixed statistics. And beatings obviously. Proper "bad guy behavior". Like in a movie.
Or perhaps you're full of shit and don't know what you're talking about
I wonder which of the two option is correct, do we live in a real life version of a cheap Hollywood movie? Or perhaps you're just wrong?
Look at the US international position. Our enemies are comparatively weak and divided. We're the world's largest economy, most powerful country and most technologically advanced nation. We're surrounded by the largest network of alliances in history. We're ranked 8h in the Human Development Index, while being the world's 3rd largest country by land area and population.
The US' global strategy since World War II has been staggeringly successful, for us and our allies. Should the US trade it's position in the world with say, Russia or China? Should we accept the status they have? Not in a million years.
So what if we made enemies? That was always going to happen. The existence of enemies in no way shape or form negates the runaway success that US global strategy has been in the big picture.
Hi, 1980s Afghanistan would like to have a word with you.

You would be better off making these statements if Russia were isolated from the West, as it was during the cold war. As it stands now, many of us know Russians, who are in contact with friends and family back home, and they do not paint this picture of love... more of fear and corruption. So please, tell us more about how Russia is the only civilized country in the world. Oops, did I type 'tell us', what I meant was 'lie to us'.
