UK to censor online videos of 'non-conventional' sex acts

"Pictures and videos that show spanking, whipping or caning that leaves marks, and sex acts involving urination, female ejaculation or menstruation as well as sex in public are likely to be caught by the ban – in effect turning back the clock on Britain’s censorship regime to the pre-internet era.

The scale of the restrictions only became apparent after the BBFC, which has since 1984 been empowered to classify videos for commercial hire or sale, agreed to become the online age verification regulator last month. A spokeswoman for the BBFC said it would also check whether sites host “pornographic content that we would refuse to classify”.

“In making this assessment, we will apply the standards that we apply to pornography that is distributed offline,” she said. “If a website fails on either of these [age verification or obscene content] tests then a notification of non-compliance will be sent to the site.”

fuck that noise, the internet lets you view content from movies to tv to comic books for free from the right websites, why would porn be made into a pay to view thing when its been there free all this time.

the thing is UK ISP's already have filters but there are numerous issues, the first is that most filters especially ISP ones cant block HTTPS im speaking from my ISP point of view, even if they could block HTTPS kids today are more tech minded then when i was a kid back in the 80's its so easy to bypass filters with tor browser or a VPN or even using sites like hidemyass, like i said previously to ban porn you have to outright censor it so nobody can view it, but the goverment are stupid they think its just on actual porn sites that porn exisits, you can find it on reddit,twitter,tumblr and theres all these forums gated towards specefic fetishs like hentai and furry porn, tbh the only porn that needs banning is child porn which isnt on the open web anyway, and thats a reason to not use TOR as alot of pedo's use that to find those creepy onion sites, ive never used tor cos its fucking slow, vpns are alot faster

I would rather ISP's provide an option that parents can sign up for to block porn sites. Nothing mandatory.

I had a c++ professor in college (in the late 90's) who said the internet is driven by porn. Meaning any technology you see on the internet had its birth on a porn site. From Popups then to streaming video now.
