China may have only a handful of nuculear weapons relative to the US but the destructive potential of even one is significant enough that they essentially cancel each other out in this regard. 50 nukes vs 500 might seem like a big difference but in reality no not really. USA won't be able to invade China, not in 1,000,000 years. The best thing they could achieve and this by sacrificing 10,000 if not 100,000 of soldiers is to create an access denial zone around China. But to go in main land, its not possible not even in Spielberg's fantasy movies. Think Nam and multiply it by 100000000000 and you will understand what will happen if you (manage) to lay boots on Chinese ground.

As for NATO ill tell you this: a) No NATO country besides (maybe) those that belong to the English axis (aka UK, Canada and Australia) will show up if USA starts shit there and b) 90% of nato isn't capable of projecting power on Russia's border yet alone send troops to China. From NATO only USA, UK and France are capable of sending troops to China and from those countries only the USA and in much much much much lesser extend UK have the capability of sending any kind of meaningful number of troops.

Lastly, if Trump keeps pushing and talking retarded (aka starts weaving the usa military dick around) you will see an official Russo-Chinese military alliance or even Sco becoming a full military alliance. USA is doing its best to send Russia and China in each others arms which at the end of the day is a nightmare scenario for the USA (and maybe the majority of the world).
