    Same as everything else in the world. You have an individual who possesses qualities you like. To you, it's Tai Lopez--sure he is duping you as he rents out 8 figure mansions for self-help promotions, but his quality is that he's rich, confident, and makes no excuses for anything--something you aspire to be. So, you follow him and you tell people about his inspirational books on MMO-Champion. Celebrities, on the other hand, are obfuscated. Conservatives, for instance, loved Bradley Cooper because he played a veteran and shared their conservative values. Ironically, Streep actually gave an answer to your question when she said that actors have the ability to connect to viewers lives with the characters they portray. Unfortunately, people seem to believe that the characters themselves are indeed representative of the actors in the real world until they're outraged when a Bradley Cooper shows up to a DNC.
