i don't see that as having changed.

i'm not a supporter of him in general, but i'd always seem him as the anti-regime change war candidate, while hillary was very pro-regime change. hwat has been said here is no different from what he said on the campaign trail, the destruction of ISIS. always knew he wanted to go out and fight ISIS.

Hey, that's not a very nice way of describing the Southern U.S.

I mean, gays haven't been thrown out of buildings for years now! We southern states just do everything we can to make their life more difficult, deny them basic rights, and helped elect a VP who thinks electroshock therapy can "fix" them.

He got to it in a very roundabout poorly worded way, but the overall conclusion that the US military is excellent at fighting wars but terrible at concluding them/post-war is absolutely spot-on. Look at Iraq and Afghanistan, militarily both were quickly defeated (and Libya ftm). But post-war consisted of us setting up secure camps with our troops, where once a day we'd send out a convoy of Humvees to do a quick lap through a city or area to claim we "control it". That's where all the ambush and IED deaths came from, and we really didn't control anything at all. It would be like a cop driving speeding through a bad neighborhood for a few minutes a day and racing back to the police station asap, and then claiming the neighborhood is crime-free. That's why ISIS grew while we were there in Iraq, the Taliban is still around in Afghanistan, and just this week we were bombing large ISIS camps in Libya. And the US 1 foot in and 1 foot out approach in Syria has been an even bigger mess.

So although it could have been stated better by Trump, I do agree that the US needs to do a much better job of either being in or out but not half-way like we've done. And if we do go in finish the job all the way through. I don't necessarily think that will mean more wars, but if we go into a place it will probably be with way less restraint then in the recent past.

There isn't a happy ending to the middle east. The very concept of peace is utterly alien to them. The problem is technology keeps advancing and the amount of harm they are capable of grows. We would be better off to nip it in the bud now then later.

This will of course never happen but it would be the best of choices we realistically have left.
