[GAME] S2 - Rate The Character /10! Day #126: ِAnveena Teague

So... Kalec asked me to make the game topics in his absence to keep their timing and duration as consistent as possible. I will be doing so for the next few days as long as I don't get classes to teach in the morning. He gave me all the forms to make this as easy to copy/paste as possible, as well as the absolute liberty in choosing the characters, so hopefully I won't mess this up, but please tell me if I forgot something.

Rules:

- One character to be polled every day, to be voted on a scale of 1 to 10.
- Each poll lasts for 24 hours and closes automatically. Shortly afterwards, a new Day starts!
- We have an initial roster for S2 that will be picked from randomly. For the remainder of the Season, characters need 9 nominations to make it to the next poll, with players allowed a single S2 nomination a Day each.
- Nominations expire every 5 days. Each day a character gets a new nominations, the 5 days counter resets again.
- If a character has two incarnations, both from the main and alternative universes, then the poll will be referring to both versions simultaneously.
- Every ten days, we will have a SPECIAL Day! We will host a character from Season 1 to re-vote! Meaning, Days #110,120,130... etc will be about characters from Season 1.
- Days that end with 5 will always feature a major or an iconic character! Meaning, Days #115, 125, 135... etc will be similar to what the SPECIAL Days of S1 used to be, but the character will be picked from the nominations list instead of being a random major.
- The same nominating rule apply for SPECIAL Days! Players can nominate a character for Season 2 AND for SPECIAL Days in the same post. So in other words, you can nominate twice per topic; once for S2, and once for S1!
- The Game Master reserves the right to decline any nomination without giving the reason, though a reason will usually be provided.
- The Game Master can participate in the voting, but is not allowed to nominate.
- Regarding the S1 re-voted characters, there is no longer a criteria of votes to be achieved. Instead, the nomination will be treated like a competition; the character that gets the most votes before the next SPECIAL Day will be featured on the next SPECIAL Day.
- Only SPECIAL Days nominations (S1 characters) are allowed during SPECIAL Days.

I actually made a character based on simillar concept (with kind of "reversed" ending) in a different game (GW2). I even have a script for this story in my head (for me and two other people).

The concept of Anveena was interesting as avatar of the sunwell , though packing her into human form was a mistake in my opinion and she wasn't all that interesting throughout her existence, just until the very end once she realized her nature and the most noteworthy thing she did then was obliterating Dar'khan who had used Kalec and his companions as punching bags throughout the trilogy.

For Anveena, I wouldn't really call her one of the best or even better written characters in the franchise, but frankly the reason I rate her so high (gave her a 9/10) is simply because that, despite her position as none other than the Sunwell itself, she feels so out of place in the Warcraft universe and more like a character you would find in a children book (and I mean that in a good way.) She somewhat makes me feel this un-explainable warmth, despite agreeing with @Enthralled that she IS silly and cheesy in principle.

Also, it goes without saying that the first character that inspired me to get into the books and was originally introduced in World of Warcraft is none other than Kalec, and I am a sucker for romantic development of characters in general, so let alone my favorite.

Dude. This is your personal freedom as far as I am concerned. I just found your reasoning nonsensical, especially when acknowledging them both as products of the same abomination as you worded it, since I had to go out of my way to find the Yrel topic out of curiosity, and also acknowledging being disconnected from Warlords of Draenor in general having not played it, but one of the characters get higher score than the other because she was supposed to be a main character and you felt sorry for her basically. This tells me that your main reason of voting was to bring the score of both characters up in Yrel's case and down in Ga'nar's case. I have no issue with that being your reason whatsoever, because again this is your personal freedom, but the writing is on the wall and there's no use to deny it.

@Starshade I must say that you did a very good job. Now we can finally get rid of @Archmage Kalec and usurp control. As for Anveena herself, she is ... alright at best. I gave her a 5/10, but I feel too generous in doing so. The reason behind that generosity however is because I enjoyed and was touched by the Sunwell Trilogy very much as a whole.

It's absolutely not the case. I never read comments nor check scores before voting. I always rate without lying to myself. In recent Varian revoting thread I actually wrote something on this topic, here's a quote so you don't have to search:

Revoting Uther just to make him score lower overall is sad. I think he doesn't deserve so high average too, but it's how he scored with our, I hope, honest opinions and I accept it. I think it's the point of this game, to rate characters while being honest to ourselves. This gives us an insight on what we, as a small part of lore community, like and what we don't. Same goes for rating someone higher to make up for "haters" low rating.

It is mostly by way of inference - since Maraad and Yrel's previous connection was dropped (apparently this featured largely in an Alpha version of Gorgrond's quest-chains), it would still stand that Yrel at least existed in the MU at some point, although perhaps she's one of the rare characters that is entirely unique to the AU version of events. Curiously I can't think of an AU version of Maraad, either; who by all rights should exist as he is implied to be somewhat ancient and mentioned battling the Legion and other threats across countless worlds during the Draenei's flight and exile from Argus.
