I'm going back and looking for anything related to his 2014 firing, and you know, I don't see anything about it being due to lying. I'm seeing claims that it was due to insubordination and a disruptive attitude, and I'm seeing claims that is was because he was just too firmly against Islam to mesh with Obama's policies. I don't see a single thing, then or now, about lies. I dunno, maybe my google-fu is weak, but if you've got a source for your claim, I'd like to see it.

Agreed. He won't (resign). But it is basically impossible for the Senate Investigation to not be a Special Committee now, and for there to be a special prosecutor.

The GOP base is rather cold to the whole Russia thing. We shouldn't make a mistake about that. At CPAC, the lines about "finding new friends with common interests", which is the Trump Administration's code word for "Russia" was met with a rather icy reception at best.

It's these non-conservative Trumpkins who lack patriotism to put country before politics, that are the Russia-excusers because they like Trump.

The word on Sessions is quickly spreading. If Republicans don't support an independent investigation and a special prosecutor, it's going to be political suicide for them. Americans as a whole are hostile to Russia and that won't change anytime soon.

I won't make a prediction as to his resignation. Don't get me wrong. He SHOULD. It would be consistent with Flynn. And if we have any respect for the law, he should be prosecuted for perjury as well.

But will he? A big part of me doubts it. Sessions has the job he always wanted. The racist Alabamian at the head of the Federal Department most responsible for fighting electoral and institutional racism in the south over the last 40 years. He will only if he becomes a monumental headache for Trump.

We'll see what Republicans say Thursday and Friday. This is just the beginning. But by demanding a resignation early, it sets the political stage for a compromise of recusal of Session on Russia and a special prosecutor.

Basically Jeff Sessions just handed everybody who wants to get to the bottom of the Trump Administration's ties to Vladmir Putin and Russia, all the leverage and ammunition they could dream of up to this point.

We already got something big. It takes a strategy to beat a strategy. =)
