I love my 1911. Its reliable and feels perfect in my hand, there are other guns I like, but my 1911 is my favorite pistol.

As an American I have no problem in saying Europe makes superior firearms now a days.
Remington and Colt quality control has gone down the shitter. Their higher end offerings can easy be matched by the Euro manufacturers and at a cheaper cost to boot.
I mentioned early, the Czech Republica is what most of my collection consists of. Hell even the Turks make top notch firearms for a low cost. Tangfolio (aka EAA) series guns are also incredible.

Have a Marlin 336 (actual Marlin, not Remington crap) and an older Winchester 94 both in 30-30. I'm looking at finally picking up my first Big Boy this summer, now the tough part, deciding on which one(s) to get. Loving the look of the Steel Carbines, might actually splurge and get one in .44 for myself and .357 for the lady (calibre match for her Ruger snubnose and its been a while since I got her a firearm for her birthday.)
I cannot roll my eyes any harder at this thread. What will the next thread be about, our favorite apple pie recipes? That being said, I will offer my non-expert opinion and that is a selection of S&W revolvers from the 1800s era.
Well some of us here hate us too.
Why does it have a nut sack on the back?
r.i.p. alleria. 1997-2017. blizzard ruined alleria forever. blizz assassinated alleria's character and appearance.
i will never forgive you for this blizzard.
At least for current day use (not just collector's) my guess would be a .38 for most popular revolver. But a .45 or 9mm semi, and/or some sort of AR variant for rifles is what everyone seems to have. A relative has an SKS, crap gun but fun.
Someone mentioned a .22 earlier as recommended for home defense and I about spit out my soda. It's just a step above a bb gun, they are mainly just for target shooting and small game like squirrels and raccoons. I've seen video of .22 bullets bouncing off large (obese) guys. Just saying, I wouldn't go anything less than a 9mm at minimum for home defense. If you have an intruder you don't want to count on hitting them 7 times to stop them with a peashooter like the .22.
I don't believe in using guns for home defense. I believe in the American way of diplomacy.
One of those Frontier Marshall Peacemakers from the wild west. I'd pull that mofo out on my assailant and be like, "This is Jimmy".
Only property owners should be allowed to own firearms and vote for raising taxes.
