What's badass about him? He lost pretty much everything, the job (twice!), the girlfriend (twice!), was betrayed by his best "friend" and in the end we don't even know what happened to him. He is candidate for the most tragic space commander.

Its from the games, the 3rd and 4th were the among the pioneers of real cinematics. I think that's from the 4th, but its been years since I played them. There was a terrible hollywood movie, but I wouldn't watch that.

Destroyed the hostile alien home planet, and saved humanity. Stopped a large military conspiracy which could escalate into full civil war. Destroyed the portal that hostile alien used to invade from, and saved humanity.

That his personal life is a tragedy do not make his actions less badass.....

He did stop the Kilrathi multiple times though. He was a Tragic hero. I love Tragic Heroes.

Out of all the Trek captains I'd have to pick Kirk, followed by Picard. Not that the others don't have their merits.

The best commander in the Battlestar universe is obviously Lloyd Bridges. But I do really like Lorne Greene too. I have to say though, as much as I came to hate the rebooted Battlestar (basically everything after season 1 was a complete disaster), it had some fantastic actors and Edward James Olmos knocked his role out of the park.

Voting for Shepard... isn't that kind of like voting for myself? I do like both VAs, though I have to say Jennifer Hale pips Mark Meer. He's good but she really brings something more to the role.

I thought about bringing that up, but they are commanders in the general sense of the word.

I think in Starfleet ranking systems, a Captain is superior to a Commander anyway. And Kirk was an Admiral for a while too.
