    GPU question

So I have a shitty onboard GPU from ATLEAST 3 years ago. I'm looking to get a new GPU from BESTBUY (Sadly, I have giftcards for BB). I'm looking for the $80-130 range preferably right around $100 since thats what my giftcard is for.

    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4570 CPU @ 3.2GHz (4CPUs) ~3.2ghZ
    Windows 8
    Intel(R) HD Graphics Family / Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600
    1920 x 1080 (32bit) (60Hz)
    Motherboard: HP 2AF7

This is the card you want, i really dont suggest you buy anything cheaper than this as you will be getting a much slower card.

for $100 Im pretty sure you only have 2 options - RX460 or GTX 1050

or maybe even GTX 1050 is a bit over $100, idk

Few questions http://www.bestbuy.com/site/evga-nvi...?skuId=5679700 vs http://www.bestbuy.com/site/evga-nvi...?skuId=5668701 (Is there much of a difference for the price)

From the bench marks I looked at this seemed better too but I'm dog shit at computer and its on clearance

(So the 960 I linked is sold out in my area. The 950 based on benchmarks seems the best of the other 3? <Clueless> There is 3 left in my area and its the cheapest but is it the best?) Bench mark I'm looking at says 960>950>1050TI>1050 check these 4 cards (well 3 the one isn't avail)

if you can't go any higher go for the 1050 it's the best you can get for that price range
if you can go higher go for the 1050 TI it's way better than the plain 1050. The name is similar but the card is quite different.
if you can go even higher there is a rx 470 that is better than the 1050 ti and is worth the money even more.
    * http://www.bestbuy.com/site/xfx-hard...?skuId=5549800
From that point up you are starting to get diminishing returns in terms of price/performance aka you will keep getting better cards but you will have to pay more and more for the extra performance.
The RX 470 is close to the performance of the RX 480 - about 5% difference and the RX 480 is about equal to 1060 and both of those are 200-300 price range cards

So those are your 3 options 1050 then 1050 TI and then RX 470

So wait the 950 and 960 isn't better then the 1050 or 1050ti? (Again I'm sorry I'm so clueless)

    1050 TI 4GB $149.99
    1050 2GB $119.99
    950 2GB $116.99

So what about the GB? or the GPU Boost Clock Speed? the 950 has the lowest Clock Speed?

1050 is about equal to 960. You should probably get that on your budget.

  9. #9
So you'd go with that 1050 over the 950? Some benchmarks are saying ones better then the other etc. Only reason I brought the 950 up is because its on clearance for the same price. but I noticed the Boost clock and the Clock speed are lower. Same GB though

There's no point in getting the 950, 1050 is ~10-15% better for 3$.

Okay last question from a big dummy
How big of a difference is this 1050 vs 1050ti (Like is that $30 honestly gonna be noticeable in something like WoW or league of legends? What would that equate to in like FPS etc.) http://www.bestbuy.com/site/evga-nvi...?skuId=5679700 vs http://www.bestbuy.com/site/evga-nvi...?skuId=5668701

    2GB VS 4GB
GPU Clock Speed1290 megahertz vs GPU Clock Speed1417 megahertz
GPU Boost Clock Speed1392 megahertz vs GPU Boost Clock Speed1531 megahertz

You'd go with the 4gb 460 over the 2gb 1050. I know its about a 9%-12% upgrade when they are both 2gb but I couldnt find anything comparing them when one is 2gb ahead

The link I just linked shows the 1050 is stronger.

I just realized this same thread by the same person is posted in the Computer Build/Upgrade Help subforum.

    TL;DR: 1050 Ti.
    Super casual.

    460 is either about equal to 950 or between 750Ti & 950

    its def slower than 1050

Yeah my bad didn't know which one to post it in. Thanks again for the advice guys. I actually also found http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...ti,4787-5.html which shows the TI is give or take 6 FPS higher Which for $20-30 I guess isn't toooo huge of a deal

    Will a Power Supply

It will easily handle it. It could handle a 1070.

Pretty sure I'm going to go with the 1050 and grab it today. http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/p...ocId=c04453446 is my computer that can handle the 1050 right pal? Someone on another forum said "no problem ( they only require pci-e slot power @75w). For literally anything else I'd want a picture of the power supply ratings label and confirmation of whether the psu has a PCI-E 6/8pin power connector" idk if thats good or bad I'm a big dummy when it comes to this shit. #Top 100 US raider #NoWonderTheUsCantBeatEU lol
