Your logic is under the assumption that America has always been a Country that provided resources and services to it's people when in actuality it is a new endeavor that only took hold in the late 1930s.

Prior to that, and from what most people consider 'immigrants' the Irish and Italian etc.

They had to build up their own livelihoods. Mostly through building farms and settlements, with a constant struggle against the elements. Lets take the Dust Bowl for example, the Government didn't bail them out. They had to abandon their farms and start over.

This isn't an uncommon experience, America is a symbol of Darwinism. The strong survived and passed along their genes to the people here today.

In contrast, Illegal Immigrants come over, file tax returns, apply for benefits, and clog up sanctuary cities. All the while dismantling unions that had built up a powerful service for the common American to stand strong against the faults of capitalism.
