Yeah, denies telling Comey to back off Flynn investigation was another self-inflicted wound, if not todays bombshell.

He tells the truth! Its just that the truth is a moving object so it changes from minute to minute. All he's trying to do is just catch the slippery bugger!

For this Russia thing, it's only 2 until you prove 1. Meanwhile, we have proof of obstruction and proof of improperly handling state secrets.

Which is, imo, what will get him.

The underlings will go down for the actual collusion. Flynn, Page, Manafort, and even Sessions are looking more guilty of being the ones that were actively pulling the strings of collusion.

Ryan, McConnell, and possibly others in the GOP will go down for knowingly laundering Russian funds into the campaign as a part of RICO that has crossover with the FBI investigation.

Trump and Pence will go down for obstruction and other smaller scale things like emoluments violations. If Trump sees jail time, it will be based on the findings from RICO. But he's already setting himself up to go down on obstruction.

Oh, he's not going to jail. If they have enough to do that, he'll pull a combination Nixon/Snowden before he sits in a cell for even a day.

You don't know that at all. His ego is such a break from reality that he might be thinking anything at this point. He might honestly believe he's done nothing wrong.

His ghostwriter suggested that he would resign and then call it a victory. I could see that happening.

Edit: however, if the writing was on the wall, and it was clear he was about to go to jail, then I could totally see him doing what you suggested.

That I can agree with. I see Trump fleeing the country before he sits in a jail cell.

Just saying that IF he goes to jail, it will be over the RICO findings since that case encompasses more than just investigating the RNC but also the culmination of the Trump Tower money laundering investigations.

It would be absolutely amazing if all the people list actually do get caught up. People will be reading the 25th very closely.

    All Hail President Mattis!

(assuming Hatch and that idiot SecTres pass, of course)

Which is why he told Comey to not investigate Flynn.

If it's truly going to take some stretching to nail Trump, he'd fight it with the idea of being vindicated. If he's guaranteed done for, he'll flee.

Trump will flee to Russia while using Twitter and such to claim the deep state forced him out, he's a victim, etc etc. Putin will grant asylum since Trump being alive means he can keep using social media to fan the flames.

There was already the reports of Kushner and Trump sending a ton of money suspiciously off shore in the past few weeks.

I edited my answer to you but it got lost in the response timing, my bad. I agree - if it looks like he's done for and will be heading for jail, I think he would definitely flee.

Is there a non-suspicious way to send money offshore?

Not when you or your affiliates are under federal investigation.

Ehhhh. It's just the timing and the amount being sent that's raising some flags. The day after the grand jury started sending indictments, finance people noticed Kushner and Trump off loading a bunch of cash.

Got any sauce for that? I haven't been able to turn up anyone remotely credible talking about it.

That wasn't meant as a defense or anything. I just can't think of many scenarios where shuffling money offshore doesn't look suspicious.

For all we know, it could be money for an illegitimate child.

I'll have to dig it back up. It was one of those stories that flew under the radar with the Comey firing and such going on.

The only source I saw was RUMINT, which isn't even close to being credible, although it is an indicator.

Also: And the House Investigation Committee just got it's hands on the Treasury FINCENT data they've been asking to review. It tracks money laundering and shell company wire transfers, among other things.

    Follow the money indeed.
