    Charged cell phone battery heavier than when drained?

    I have noticed for several years that my various cell phones feel slightly heavier when on a full charge than when they are completely drained. I lack the tools at the moment to weigh the phone to see if I'm right. Does anyone else feel the same thing?

    Yes they are, but it is by so damn little that you could not feel it.

    They also get heavier every time you take another picture too. The weight of each picture adds over time!

    I figured that since current is created by electrons moving from ions of differing charges, the entire system is completely closed (if perfect...which is impossible), so it should weigh the same amount whether charged or dead. The electrons are still there, they're just more evened out across the poles.

    I am, however, regularly wrong...so there's that.

    E = mc^2

    So yes.

    The mass difference will be immeasurable though until you use bigger 'batteries' like Thermonuclear Power Plants and only then will you be only to measure a billionth of a percent.

    End thread I guess.

    Batteries shouldn't weigh more when charged. When a battery is charged you aren't adding anything to it, you're just moving the electrons into an arrangement that causes current to flow.

    cuz a human cant really notice such a small change in weight.. its extremely small

    "Specifically, it would weigh about 0.5 nanograms-force more." idk but thats sounds small

    oh , you said you lacked the tools at the moment to see if you are right.. while on the internet.

    but i guess you can still invest in some equipment to prove your theory

    BEcause unless you're a machine, there's no damned way you will tell the difference. It's NANOGRAMS dude. It's IMPOSSIBLE for a human to tell.
