Hey all! We've got a nice big list of changes that took place over the last week.

    June 13, 2017

    • Support for Mythic+ Seasons! With the release of 7.2.5, we wanted to be sure to have player's scores reset back to zero, and start accumulating fresh again. You can now see throughout the site places where you can change the active season. Also, when on a character profile page we will include a highlight for their previous season's Mythic+ score if they had one.
    • We've partnered with the great guys at the Mythic Plus Friends Discord to power some of their channels with special Raider.IO integrations. Now, over on Mythic Plus Friends, you'll get alerted whenever the new weekly affixes are confirmed. Additionally, you'll be alerted for new record breaking runs are made in each dungeon for 7.2.5 (these must be at least a +15 M). We will have these webhooks available for everyone else to use some time next week.

    • Mythic+ scoring balance adjustment. After lots of feedback and reviewing our data we've decided to make a change to part of our scoring algorithm to lessen the penalty on overtime runs. The specific change we made was to reduce the immediate penalty a run is given when it goes over time. Previously, the run would lose 2 "mythic level" worth of points, but we've reduced this to 1 now. The decay over time when beyond the timer is just as it had been, so if your run goes over you'll still notice the points dropping at a steady clip. The overall effect of this is that overtime runs will be worth on average about 10% more than their previous value. These scoring changes should be fully reflected in the leaderboards later tonight June 9th.
    • Removed Emerald Nightmare & Trial of Valor Heroic/Normal rankings. Mythic rankings for these two raids will still exist. These two raids occurred before Raider.IO launched, so we never had the opportunity to scan them while they were current. This meant that our kill timestamps for normal and heroic were always going to be wrong. We still show the progress summary for these raids (e.g. 7/7 H), but we no longer show the detailed timestamps or group compositions for these raids & difficulties.
    • Significant performance improvements to Hall of Fame page load times
    • Improvements to our deployment process to allow us to deploy new updates without the site going briefly inaccessible
    • Added sample size to the bottom of Mythic+ leaderboard charts to provide a basis for the shown percentages
    • Added "Highlights" to the Character's Page header. These are three "top stats" about the character's progress. Typically this will be their Mythic+ Score and their highest progression from the most recent raids. Since this is visible at the top of the page, you can pretty easily check a player's score by just searching for them and glancing at the header (no need for scrolling).
    • Added tooltips to the Raid Progress timeline to help express its meaning a bit better. You can see these by hovering a guild or the "# More" text
    • More elegantly format guild pages if a guild has no raid progression. Thanks @ben for the report.
    • Misc mobile formatting improvements, primarily to the header of guild pages
    • Added Public APIs for looking up guild information and for retrieving the latest affixes for a given region. Additionally, we updated lots of the documentation on our API.
    • Searching for an exact realm name now shows it as first in the results. Thanks Cohumulone.
    • Stopped showing decimal places on player scores in a run roster. You can still see the more precise score on each individual player's profile.
    • Changed title of main tab for Mythic+ > Mythic Plus
    • Fixed problem with the dropdown menu bar often appearing on top of everything else (even the search window). Thanks for all who reported this issue.
    • Fixed problem where when an error occurs the modal will appear partially under the rest of the page.

Get ready for ToS updates next week!

We wanted to share this example we pulled together in Discord for the type of Raider.IO scores you'd expect to see if players had completed all 12 of each dungeon as a 1-chest clear for these Mythic+ levels:

    Code:
    Mythic+ Level Character Score
    ------------- ---------------
    5 600
    10 1,200
    15 1,933
    20 3,112
    25 5,013

Heya folks! We have an update today in preparation for Tomb of Sargeras. Later this afternoon we will write up a more thorough post of our feature additions and bug fixes over the past week, but for now I just wanted to direct everyone to the site. We have a countdown set up for the release of ToS and if you follow Pepe he'll show you how to set up our new Discord alerts

A lot of hard work is going into this project.

The devs are also contactable and willing to listen to ideas/criticisms/feedback.

Get involved, support this project and watch it become your go-to rankings site.

    Aww - this guy!

So I realized I hadn't posted a list of Raider.IO patch notes from last week. I figured I'd go ahead and round up our latest updates and group them up into an early post for this week.

    June 26, 2017

    • Fixed timer for Return to Karazhan: Upper. We had this marked as 39 minute par time, but it's actually be 35 minutes par time. End result: Everyone who has run UPPR ended up with a slightly higher score. Thanks person who left this report in our contact form.
    • Made it so in the site search you can type a term and then just hit enter to be taken to that first match. Thanks, Cistara.
    • Made item level fields show by default as Equipped Item Level, with a tooltip for "In Bags" Item Level. This applies to M+ runs and raids. Thanks, Emangle.
    • Fixed bug with exported class balance graphs not showing class icons
    • Tomb of Sargeras support! (y'all probably know this already)
    • As mentioned in my previous post - Discord Alerts! We added a way to register for custom alerts to go straight from our servers to your Discord. This includes things like: Mythic World First Race, Weekly Mythic+ Affixes, and so forth. If you haven't seen it yet, check out: https://raider.io/discord
    • Lots of backend work in our crawlers to ensure it's finding as many guilds as possible.
    • Fixed the Hall of Fame page showing guilds out of order (Thanks, Ben)
    • Fixed a typo on the Discord Success page (Thanks to the person who mailed in!)
    • Fixed a problem where you couldn't load certain profile pages for guilds that still have some internal data related to when we (briefly) tracked LFR kills.
    • We also now automatically will enqueue a character or guild requested in the API if it has been too long since they were last queued. Currently this is a 6 hour window, but we will likely adjust this as we observe usage.
    • Added commas to formatting of numbers on Hall of Fame page
    • Added metrics tracking to many parts of our internal systems so we can understand how things are performing and being used
    • Raid Compositions now show a snapshot of the user's most current: Legendaries, Trinkets, Tier 19, and Tier 20 gear.
    • Mythic Plus run rosters now show Tier 19 / Tier 20 items in separate columns.
    • Fixed a bug where users couldn't search for realms with dashes or apostrophes in the name.
    • Webhook info and link to our Discord channel consolidated into one item on the menu.
    • Site's default page has been officially swapped to Tomb of Sargeras Mythic.

Additions to Public API: See this page for more details.

    • New optional character field raid_progression to pull the summary of this character's raid progress
    • New optional character field previous_mythic_plus_scores and previous_mythic_plus_ranks that returns data from the previous season for that player
    • New optional character field gear that returns high level information on player's gear (equipped/total item level and artifact traits)
    • New data on base character payload: achievement_points, honorable_kills, active_spec_name, active_spec_role
    • mythic_plus_highest_level_runs: retrieve the player's three highest Mythic+ runs by Mythic+ level (current season only)
    • mythic_plus_weekly_highest_level_runs: retrieve the player's three highest Mythic+ runs by Mythic+ level for the current raid week (current season only)

Tomorrow is a big day - excited to see which guild comes out on top in ToS! If any of you have feedback regarding our webhooks, we'd love to hear it so that we can make changes as needed. Just hop in our Discord channel and let us know what's on your mind

Hey Devs. When you guys get free time, I'd be curious to see a statistic around Kil'jaeden kills and what percentage used what tank class. Also what size of raids were used to kill Heroic KJ. Lot of information and feeling that he's hitting super hard, more than he should, and that pallys are not good for that fight because he tears through them like paper mache. I know you've pulled M+ stuff before so I was curious about things like that.

Hi Xinder - apologies for the delay. We've been very heads down the past week with the launch of Mythic ToS.

In response to your question, we absolutely want to do something like the graphs we have for M+, but for raids.

I figured I would run a few queries for you right now though, as a holdover until we get this feature implemented. Please do note though, that this data will have some amount of implicit error in it, because it is based upon snapshots of what players logged out in, while our M+ data is able to get the actual role the player was using on the run and doesn't suffer from the same challenge.

These tables are akin to our "Class Frequency By Run" data from M+: "Each character will be counted for every kill they are seen on".

Tank Frequency on H-Kil'jaeden (~10k samples)
    Guardian Druid 29.7%
    Brewmaster Monk 17.9%
    Blood Death Knight 17.7%
    Protection Paladin 14.4%
    Protection Warrior 11.2%
    Vengeance Demon Hunter 9.3%

Healer Frequency on H-Kil'jaeden (~20k samples)
    Restoration Druid 26.6%
    Holy Paladin 22.2%
    Restoration Shaman 21.3%
    Holy Priest 17.3%
    Mistweaver Monk 8.5%
    Discipline Priest 4.1%

    DPS Frequency on H-Kil'jaeden(~80k samples)
    Havoc Demon Hunter 10.0%
    Frost Mage 9.6%
    Beast Mastery Hunter 7.1%
    Affliction Warlock 7.0%
    Retribution Paladin 6.2%
    Shadow Priest 6.2%
    Balance Druid 6.1%
    Marksmanship Hunter 5.4%
    Arms Warrior 5.2%
    Unholy Death Knight 5.0%
    Subtlety Rogue 4.7%
    Elemental Shaman 3.8%
    Assassination Rogue 3.8%
    Fury Warrior 3.4%
    Enhancement Shaman 3.0%
    Destruction Warlock 2.5%
    Fire Mage 2.5%
    Windwalker Monk 2.1%
    Frost Death Knight 1.9%
    Feral Druid 1.4%
    Arcane Mage 1.1%
    Demonology Warlock 0.9%
    Outlaw Rogue 0.8%
    Survival Hunter 0.3%

Hey all! The holiday weekend pushed back my update post a little bit but we still have a number of changes to tell you about.

    July 6, 2017

    • API: We fixed a performance issue with the mythic_plus_highest_level_runs character field. Thanks @Bart for bringing this to our attention.
    • Discord Alerts: Replaced the "Guild Profile" link on Raid alerts to be just the guild's name. This allows you to see the guild name on the alert while on mobile devices.
    • Fixed a bug in the crawlers where artifact traits would not be detected properly for characters whose artifact was actually their offhand (such as Protection Paladins/Warriors, Demo Locks, etc.). This can't retroactively fix the values, but will store the value for all runs from now on. Thanks @Deadlystrike for pointing this out
    • Fixed a bug that sent out world first alerts for non-mythic guilds. (Congrats to Empyrean and Honored Exiles for their kills though!)

    Discord Alerts:

    • Changed "Mythic Raiding World Firsts" alert to include Region options, so you can monitor the race across all regions, or for specific regions. You can also choose how many first-kills of each boss to be alerted for.
    • Added "Mythic Raiding Realm Firsts" alert to watch the progression race on just a single realm (and the realms it is connected to). You can also choose how many first-kills of each boss to be alerted for.
    • Added an optional "detailed" format for the "Mythic Plus Weekly Affixes" alert. This detailed view will also emit the descriptions of each affix.
    • Added an optional "simple" format for the "Mythic Plus Record Breakers" alert. This simple view will omit the group roster from the alert.
    • Miscellaneous tweaks to Discord alert formatting.

    API Updates:

    • Added some docs to API explaining how to format the raid parameters, also made it so raid parmater can take the full name of raid and not just slug (e.g. both Tomb of Sargeras and tomb-of-sargeras will work)(edited)

    User accounts are finally here!

This represents a huge change across many systems, and we are happy to be able to share it with you all.
Our focus in this first pass was on trying to address a lot of the fundamentals of what it means to actually have an account system in the first place, so there's not too much fanciness yet!

    Here are the highlights:

What you can control for your Account:
    • Customize the time zone to display time in, as well as whether you prefer to view time as a 12 or 24 hour clock.
    • Claim your characters and customize each of their profiles when you associate your Blizzard account with Raider.IO

Once you have claimed characters you get access to these features:

    • Choose from 1 of 6 different header background images (6 per faction) to personalize the look of your profile page.
    • Choose a character to be marked as your Main. By doing this your character will show up in the top bar while logged in, providing easy access to your character/guild/realm.
    • Add a custom biography for each of your characters to let folks know more about you and your interests. You can even use Emojis in your profiles. :fire::fist::fire:
    • Link external social media and other forms of contact by adding accounts to your profile. Do this via the Social & Contacts section of the Settings page. You'll have access to link: Discord, Twitch, Youtube, Twitter, and Wowhead profiles. In addition you'll have options to control whether to show your BattleTag on your profile page, or keep it private.

    Other things:

    • All the standard things you'd expect from an account system: forgot password, change email address, etc.
    • We added a link from character profiels to their Warcraft Logs profile so you can more easily check logs for players
    • We added another icon to link you to the WoW Armory for clarity
    • Fixed a bug where clicking an "external link" (something that takes you off-site) would cause the link to open once in the current tab, and again in a new tab.

Go give it a shot at https://raider.io/register and let us know of any problems you run into!

    Looks nice.

    However:

    1. Realms list:
    - Time zones are irrelevant for EU realms, so maybe remove them when all realms have same time zone?
    - No way to filter English only realms from EU realms list
    - No way to sort realms list by any column
    - Overall population requires hovering every single realm, also no sort option

    2. Realm page:
    - Parts of menu are not working. For example, clicking back to EU realms list does nothing
    - Very little information compared to other websites.

    3. Guild page:
    - No useful information. Very basic page

Overall a nice website, but it shows way too little information to be useful.

We're excited to see the Mythic Dungeon Invitational underway, and we've built some cool new features into Raider.IO to let you see how teams out there are stacking up!

Starting now, you'll notice a new tab at the top of the screen that takes you to a page that ranks teams of players by their Top 5 Dungeons completed together, since the start of the Invitational.

We've opted to keep this leaderboard minimal, based on the criteria Blizzard provided about the contest: We show only timed runs, count each dungeon only once, and value highest dungeon level above all else.

To go along with this, you can also now view the details of any of these teams, and see specifically which dungeons they have been running, and more:

Check out the main Proving Grounds rankings here: https://raider.io/mythic-dungeon-invitational

Or check out one of the top Proving Grounds teams here: https://raider.io/mythic-plus-teams/...mm-Wafflesauce

P.S We have a few more minor fixes too:

    - We once again sort runs on character pages by the M+ level, as we had a number of comments that sorting by dungeon name was making it harder to scan. Thanks to everyone who brought this up
    - The active/inactive/hover colors for tabs have been updated to hopefully make more sense (Thanks @Sas148 )

I discovered the site a few weeks ago. It has a really nice layout and also is adding nice features. I really like it and always keep my guild updated there as well. I hope this forces wowprogress to step their game up (well, at least in terms of eye candy).

The invitational team list would be a bit more accurate in terms of order if you took the highest key a team has done (say a 22) and assumed every incomplete slot from the list of 5 was 3 levels below that at -0 on the timer, because it's trivial to time keys 3 levels below your best.

    That way a team that's done a 22 is automatically above a team that's done a 22, 3 19s, and an 18, and below teams that have done a 22 and 4 19s.

This would also make it clear who's actually up and coming for contention in each region.

  16. #136
I haven't posted an update since late July (mmm they make tasty cheese crackers) but that's only because I took a trip for my birthday in August and then fell behind on posting. Whoops.

The updates have still been happening every week on raider.io however!

I figured I'd compile all of our more notable updates of the past coupe of months into a mass post here, so here we go:

    Mythic Dungeon Invitational!
    - Check out detailed game-by-game brackets for the Mythic Dungeon Invitational!
    - Made the winners of each region hidden by default, so you don't get the results spoiled.
    - Be sure to check out the Grand Finals this weekend on the official Warcraft Twitch channel: https://www.twitch.tv/warcraft

    Mythic+:
    - Started a new Mythic+ Season to go along with patch 7.3 due to the difficulty change to M+ dungeons
    - Added support for the new 7.3 dungeon, Seat of the Triumverate

    Character History Transfer:
    - Keep your Mythic+ score when you transfer servers or rename... automatically!

New Support System & Knowledge Base:
    - We think it's important to be able to easily gather feedback from the community and be able to respond to it. This update involved finding the right solution to handle our support needs and making it a part of the site. Users can now easily search a knowledge base of commonly asked questions, or just reach out to us to ask us a question. We do our best to swiftly answer all support requests.

    Character Profile Page:
    - Fixed the calculation for "Closest Call" on runs
    - Added a date filter to the M+ table, so you can view your M+ history just from the current week, previous week, or all time
    - We now link to the official leaderboard for a given dungeon to make it easy to check if your run is showing there

    Miscellaneous:
    - Added "Remember Me" option when logging in
    - Updated some design things: header images are now taller, and the advertisement section will overlap it. Also adjusted how the footer is done.
    - Fixed a bug that would cause character pages to keep reloading their data if you were visiting it with the wrong case
    - Lots of internal changes to our crawlers to improve performance and stability. This is an ongoing thing for us!
