Would they? The House of Lords is constitutionally bound to hold Government to account it is unlikely that it would be shut down for doing so and the Government have already played down the notion of abolishing the Lords if they interfere with Brexit. But to be honest the Lords are the least of the Tories' worries.
Yep, it's called the Salisbury Convention. However, in hung parliaments it doesn't hold.
But, the Lords is a revisionary body. It's not their job to veto the work of the Commons, but to check & revise.
Lords won't do squat about whether we Brexit or not, but they might help steer the ship away from a hard Brexit.
hilarious that the Tories caved in before losing a vote and gave NI women the right to free abortion. They were going to lose the vote so they just decided to do it anyway.
Repeat after me, strong and stable, strong and stable.
Queens speech passed, looking good til 2022 for strong and stable Theresa, meanwhile turmoil in the Labour opposition with mass front bench sackings and Corbyn jumping into bed with Farage.

I won't call it a sign of weakness but the Cons had no choice but to agree with the proposal or risk not passing the Queen's Speech. It certainly highlights just how precarious the Cons position is and just how difficult it will be going forward.

I'm not sure how you've worked out that Corbyn is jumping into bed with Farage. However it's a little ironic that Corbyn is sacking frontbenchers over defying the party line given his past voting record.
The irony that Tories rebelled against their bosses and forced May to cave or face losing is not lost on the person who said Tories wouldn't rebel or face losing their jobs I'm sure...
The point is May and co did NOT agree with it, they changed their mind when facing defeat.
Indeed.Liberal Democrat deputy leader Jo Swinson congratulated the Labour MP and said: "I'm glad that Justine Greening has acted on this issue, but it is embarrassing that the health secretary had done nothing on this so far and only the threat of a defeat prompted change.
You are taking the piss, right? If you are not please "take" my money at betfair. I have also have a bridge to sell...

I believe Sinn Fein are quite likely to enter the house soon and help topple the government. They won't do it yet because they would be seen to putting a stop to some generous tory bribes.
The truth is that the continental system is excellent because it makes it almost impossible for any one to do anything. The problem with our system is that it makes it very easy for retarded public schoolboys in the pay of corporations supported by media barons to do a great deal, mostly f*** everyone over.

The Dutch parliament is stable enough. Just because there's no "government." doesn't mean no one is governing at a stable rate. Essentially right now they have a minority government among those willing to be part of the coalition. Nothing is stopping the country functioning and a lot better than our country.
Are there seriously still people that think Corbyn STILL stands a chance?
Sinn Fein are going to break decades or policy to come and swoop in to help Corbyn "topple the government"?
There's going to be a sudden socialist revolution and the Tories will all vote against their own party?
The House of Lords is going to overrule Mays entire government?
This is it.
The election is done.
May WON. Corbyn LOST. He did better than people expected but he LOST. He lost to the most useless and beatable opponent in UK election history. He didn't even win the "popular vote", Just because his supporters are very vocal and self-righteous it doesn't mean they were a majority.
The Queens speech has been passed.
Conservatives are in power until 2022 now.
It isn't an "illegitimate" government, just because you want it to be. They won fair and square, and are in power following the law and all the correct process. I doubt May's going to be around for long, but that doesn't mean the conservatives are going anywhere.
(Maybe it was Russian hackers that did it lol)
BASIC CAMPFIRE for WARCHIEF UK Prime Minister!
Jesus, someone's grasp of parliamentary democracy sucks.
It is quite common for a government to lose more seats during a parliament than the 13 the government has as a working majority. Especially when it is less popular than the opposition which is currently the case. This becomes a virtual certainty if Sinn Fein take their seats: which they've never done but may well do to stop their hated ideological nemesis the DUP from exerting policy in Northern Ireland.
Moreover the government will not be able to pass any contentious measures at all while in office. This causes dissent and can lead to a collapse of government.
For this reasons the odds against the government surviving till 2022 at not favourable. By all means find a bookie and bet the farm on it I'm sure they will love to take your money.
