    My parents were from the Canary Islands as I was born in the US. Eventually, my name became stupid for many people including myself they just went with a shorter English version of it and it's been like that 'til this day.

    On another note: I really like some of the names that are relatively common (I think?) in the US, but would sound weird in most other - at least non-English - countries like Grace, Hope etc. They just have something nice to them.

    My name is Tobias. My parents used to give me a bullshit excuse about it being easily pronouncable in all languages. They gave the same excuse to my sister. I don't know why they didn't just say they liked the names.
