That reeks of monopolization of the market. So much for the "muh private companies" argument. YouTube started much the same way though, didnt it?

Couldn't they have just classified channels based on content and give the advertisers the option if they want to advertise on stuff? Just make sure to classify the channels as left wing political, right wing political, and extremist/hate speech categories as well as other categories as well.

But to demonetize them entirely is a bit much.
Since we can't call out Trolls and Bad Faith posters and the Ignore function doesn't actually ignore it. Add
    "mmo-champion.com##li.postbitignored"
to your ublock or adblock filter to actually ignore ignored posters. Now just need a way to ignore responses to them as well.

Sounds great! It's almost like this private company is trying to adapt its policies to shed some of the bigoted or radicalized dead weight from capitalizing from its services!

That depends on if Ajit manages to kill Net Neutrality or not.

Not really. No indication so far that it would.

For all our sake, I hope it doesn't. Sucks watching my nation crash like this since the Bush years and so many people cheering and voting against their and their families own best interests.

If we fix this shit, but if it doesn't want the children stuck cleaning up this mess the ability to see what other nations have done to fix shit as they seem more open minded and logical about stuff than the current generation in charge here.

Actually it happens when a company decides to exercise capitalism and attempt to clean up so that it can attract more viewers. This is mostly about YouTube's long term aspirations to become a mainstream media outlet and further monetize their product with viewers that advertisers actually want to talk to.

So Bing videos/Vimeo are the closests "competitors" and have 70-80% smaller market share... You can't just make another because google will bully the shit out of it by either not displaying results as often(has happened with vimeo videos before) or just make sure advertisers stay the fuck away from you till you just go bankrupt.
    But, but... the free market!

Basically advertisers think people are stupider than they actually are, and think that the advertisers condone what the videos content is.
Well the people who make the content care, they don't want to have to go out and get one of those jobs that are so easy to get and scale the ladder hard work while peddling philosophy

Pretty much, money rules the world and primarily thanks to the very people bitching about how unfair it is to them now. HAHA fuck all those other people Left or Right nothing worse than a bunch of fence sitters who go which ever way the wind is blowing and have absolutely no constitution. Regardless to Ideology.

YT is digging it's own grave.
It's nothing without it content creators.

Soon they'll become nothing but a website full of make up tutorials. If that's what they want. A competitor will show up.

As if anyone would beliebe that YT would be the only proper video hosting website for eternity.

Yep because everybody not buying products from advertisers will move on the greener pastures like they did on Twiter only to build copy cat that failed. Youtube will still be alive and well and not going away, and when all the content providers lose their homes and have to get a real job, they won't have much content anybody wants to buy.

Life will be a bitch once those that have to deal with all those plebs they were critical of because their troll audience has no money or ambition to ever sincerely give a shit about anything other than fucking with others or tearing down what others honestly try to build.

Oh yeah, almost forgot about that. Google's ISP service should be held to the same NN standards as every other ISP, should we manage to keep standards in place. I can't really imagine using a different search engine, so I do see the obvious potential for abuse.

Again, changes that instill advertiser confidence are good for content creators as a whole.

Yes, some creators will have a much harder time monetizing their more controversial content, but overall the majority of creators stand to benefit from changes that bring back more brands to the platform and increased value of those brands' ads playing. They will have higher CPMs and higher monetization rates, making creating content more viable and appealing.

YouTube is far from perfect and I'm not saying they will do everything perfect or on the first try (we already have seen that is definitely not the case), but Google is not dumb. They know that their creators sustain the platform and are not going to do anything costs them (meaning YT) money -- which driving away advertisers and (with them) creators) would do.

Having been born into a generation that Didn't have internet, and watching how damaged the world has become... I'm glad.

At first I was pissed off, but after thinking and experiencing shit... I hope they regulate the fuck out of the internet.
