Yeah I'll be perfectly and blatantly honest here: Marijuanna effects different people different ways. Sometimes you'll get high and see stars, sometimes you'll get a buzz that lasts less than an hour. It also depends on what method of use, as well. Eating a pot brownie/cookie/hard candy can take hours to actually effect an individual and based on things like stomach acid content and how well functioning your liver can process cannibinoids, it could be one of the best highs you've ever had (or you could feel barely a buzz because your stomach acid content destroys the thc/cbd before it gets to your liver like in me.)

As far as driving goes, it's something hard pressed because I know people that are actually /better/ drivers when they are high. Allows them to calm their nerves and focus on not committing traffic violations and is a far cry away from the stupid that alcohol makes most people. That being said, I say it for some people. Tolerance to THC as well as method of use and ability to focus while high (takes practice) are all factors when it comes to success when "driving while high".

Maybe because alcohol is already legal and regulated and we're trying to make sure marijuana also gets appropriately regulated as it becomes legalized in more places?

Thing is its immaterial if alcohol is more or less impairing than marijuana, marijuana still impairs your driving its also why there's legal limits on alcohol consumption while driving, there should be limits on marijuana at least or better yet do not drive while impaired by any substance.

The thing about weed though is it slows reaction time. Two of the many important things to care for when driving are 1) reaction time and 2) the distance from the thing you need to react to. Let's say you saw an object and you had to stop abruptly. Your reaction time (hitting the breaks) after seeing the object, depending on its distance, it increases when you are sleepy, unfocused, intoxicated/high, etc... How light-headed you are, how your body reacts to the weed, they're all just factors in how much your reaction time increases, and half a second could mean the difference.

Now the people you know, most likely regular smokers, I agree that they may be "better" drivers when they are high, but only in the sense that they'd be too irritated to drive well if they weren't high. At their best, when they are high, their reaction time is still slow compared to how it would be if they were both sober and dependency-free. Or at least I bet it is
Nothing of me is original. I am the combined effort of everybody I've ever known.

I tried, but I was outnumbered, so we banned men, instead. Democracy can really suck, sometimes.

I'm pretty sure the point of all this was to point out to those that constantly say that "people that toke don't drive" (and plenty people try to claim just that)...do indeed toke and drive, with the usual consequences.

And also not being in a situation where you have to react instantly helps, it is undisputed that it slows reaction times, colour me cynical but I do not believe for a second that the people you know have their reaction time enhanced while they're driving under the influence of weed.

Just kidding but back OT dont take any psychoactive substance that can make you drowsy or impair you and then get behind the wheel of car. If you do then you deserve a long stretch in a prison cell!

You should not drive under the influence of anything. Or when your attention is not on the road. Et cetera.

It's also worth pointing out that the main cause of these sorts of death is alcohol which is already legal.

And that long term, we'll be replacing human drivers anyway.

These are the sensible points to raise in this discussion, IMO.

    Ban death.

Better yet, ban living, it's a gateway drug to death.

And they say marijuana has killed zero people. That's because they categorize incidents like this as a car accident and nothing more.

If we're gonna start banning substances for their car crash body count... *cough*

It is unfortunate that a lot of people who use weed are also idiots.
