Even though Anduin is a very good emperor because he had Malfurion save Cenarius, Velen deploy the Vindicaar, while also having Tyrande and Vereesa go to Suramar, my favourite emperor is Thrall! He lead a nation of orcs, a nation of tauren and a nation of blood elves.

The legitimate reason is that all these leaders of all these various races allowed Anduin to lead them.

And why would they do that?

Because they did it? You are literally questioning the motives of fantasy characters written by someone else lol

So, no legitimate reason for Anduin to be High King then?

Other than everyone in the Alliance allowing him to be? Nope.

Why did they allow it? Ask Tyrande, Velen, Muradin and Malfurion. They're the only ones who have the answer you seek.

Sounds a lot like a hereditary emperor to me.

This has been discussed 10,000 times before.

Varian was the King of Stormwind. He was ALSO the High King of the Alliance which was a military positio. He was the commander of the Alliance military (as opposed to having multiple separate forces). Varian died and no new High King was appointed. However, the role of King which is hereditary passed to Anduin. High King was invented, was not a sovereign position but a military one and there is nothing to say it is hereditary. There is no new High King. There was one which was Varian. He's gone so too is the position.

Varian was King AND High King (two separate things).
    Anduin is now King.
    No one is High King.

Oh and I am 100% wrong. Sorry! Happy to be proven wrong and learn though, thanks!

I think Blizz need to clarify this then. How exactly does the title work, is it simply hereditary?
